Roller camshaft = steel gear. Flat tappet camshaft = iron gear. What year is your car? carb or EFI? Richport distributors for 85 and later cars will have a steel gear to match the roller camshaft that came in 5.0 Mustangs. Recheck your Crane product number to make sure it is a hydraulic roller camshaft.
