The short story is I blew that crap up out of my car. :bang:

Now for the long story. First time taking the bottle out of the car to have it filled. Installed bottle and attempted to purge system at PIR without the engine running. :nonono: Lesson one, purge system with engine running. :nice: Even though everything else was on I could not get the system to purge so I thought I would do it at the burnout box. :notnice: Bad idea. Just didn't know better.

Staged against John, we looked like spy vs. spy out there, :D got a great light, (.139) tires hooked and off I went to my first 11 second pass. Oh but that was about to change. :nono: Half way down the track, grind grind and more grind, boom, then lots of smoke, throttle stuck wide open, ( now the swear words come into play) high revs, can't get the peddle to come back down, turned motor off and coasted off the track and around the bend and parked it in the grass.

Ta-da. I'm done. Popped open the hood, could not move throttle by hand, pulled air intake tube off and looked inside throttle body. Oh looky, a folded in half butterfly blade with bent virtical butterfly post. :jaw: Now, I know it wasn't like that when I started so I'm pretty sure this just happend. Great.

Pulled the butterfly blade out and smashed it flat again with a hammer on the assfault. :) A little filing and it was workable to get my butt back home. Got in the seat and tried to put it in gear. Ha ha ha said, "the car". You ain't going nowheres. Fried the clutch too. Wait, wait, it gets better.

Let the car cool off awhile, watched some racing, filmed a little, swapped over to my street tires and tried it again. The clutch was working but making lots of noise. Tried to make it home but the whole clutch assemble finally gave up as I crossed over the Saint John Bridge headed towards Linton. Good thing the wife was with me in the "chase truck" and pulled me to the Arco station. One and a half hours later a tow truck arrived and we got her home. Now it's 2:20 a.m. and I know I've had better days. I can just feel it.

Now comes the cool part, everyone give me your opinions on what you think caused this, why, and how to avoid it agian. I have pretty good idea but thats just my opinion. Oh by the way I will be installing a purge kit. Stupid.

In my next thread I will be asking for throttel body and clutch assembly opinions as well. Will save that one for another time.:nice:

I would like to say thanks again to John, Roger, and the wife for all of their help. So with in good humor and nature, I'll fix the stupid thing. Still had fun. See ya at the track. :hail2:

That sucks Ben! I should remember, but what throttle body do you have on there? You don't have to worry too much about a purge. If anything, not having one will make it a little bit of a softer hit with the 150 shot so it is not as hard on traction. I ran my car for years without a purge and if I felt the need to purge I would just blip the nitrous while I hit wot in 2nd in the burnout box.

It's all practice Ben and I can't tell you how bad I felt when I turned that corner and saw you and John sitting there as I knew how excited you were to be there and see what your car could do.
I have had things like that happen before where you do your best to make sure things are right and get to the track and it all comes undone.

I have been racing with nitrous for several years and it can be so finicky sometimes, and a purge kit although not needed can be VERY nice to have for situations like what happened, as well as when you want to change bottles. I HATED freezing my fingers off when I wanted to change the bottle and had a bit of nitrous left in it but did not want to shoot it into the tb. I also hated the first blast of it after a bottle change and it coughed with the air in the line until it was all just nitrous.

Anywho I want to be there when you hit 11's, and it was so awesome meeting you and your wife, I just wish it was under better circumstances. :(

Nice! Hey john I'll bet when you drove by and saw me beating the crap out of my throttle body butterfly on the ground with a hammer that I had "lost" it. All good. Have to admit it, kinda funny, in a crappy way.

AUGUST 20TH? Oh boy, pressure is on now.
