I get this really big vibration and it almost sounds like something is grinding in my tranny when i have the clutch disengaged (clutch pedal pushed in) and i rev the engine. any ideas?

I just had that replaced along with the clutch probably less than 3k miles ago. It was rattling really bad. This almost sounds like I'm grinding a gear

Is it doing this standing still or while you're moving? If the clutch pedal is pushed in I don't see how this could be a gear if you have the tranny in neutral AND the clutch dissengaged? Could be a worn driveshaft U-Joint if it's doing this while moving.

It's the grinding that puzzles me. Vibrations could come from tons of place (urethane engine or tranny mounts + cold weather) but grinding has to come from a part that's moving even when your clutch is dissengaged... Flywheel?

thanks for your help thus far, sorry i couldnt replay sooner.

I too am puzzled about the noise.

this vibration and noise happens both while moving and stationary, and while in gear and out of gear. the noise sounds like a grind, and when i hear the noise the shifter vibrates as well as if you're grinding a gear.

i will try to take a video with my phone. perhaps we can hear it.

thanks so far.

Try checking your tranny's oil to see if there is presence of metal particules in it but I doubt it will be the case. So far, I'm leaning towards a clutch or flywheel problem. Did you take it back to whoever changed your clutch and TOB to see if he has any idea as to what's going on in there?
