Just finished installing a V1 s-trim kit on my stock 95 cobra. I am using the 10:1 fmu and msd 6btm per the instructions. If I keep everything as is, will I be "safe" without a dyno tune?? There are no dyno's anywhere even near where I live is the reason that I ask-If this isn't safe, what can I do???? I haven't driven above 3500 rpm yet and so far, the car runs smoothly with idle fuel pressure at 33psi. I don't plan on adding anymore boost or mods. Thanks for your input!!!

33psi seems low for the FP... Stock is 38psi I believe.

I'm on my 4th day of my turbo car running around the streets untuned at 10psi and so far, knock on wood, I havent had any problems. I locked my timing at 20* FP is at 40psi with vac line on, and some basic stuff with the tweecer... Loaded MAF, injectors, set idle... little stuff like that and its still going.

Do NOT put any kind of boost to that thing WITHOUT a dyno tune. You have NO idea what's going on with that thing until it is tuned. You altered fuel settings, timing (with the BTM) etc. I dont think that "not having a dyno anywhere near" is a reason to "assume" everything is ok and get on it. There is a break-in period anyway.. If you Must drive the car....dont get on it until youve had it tuned.

No it wont be safe, you have to have a dyno tune to know where your air fule ratio is. I just had a dyno tune done on mine last friday w/ a chip being burnt. I asked them how diffrent my car was from before the tune to when the finial tune was done for the chip. They said the way the car was before it was way off, if it was not for having my timming locked out at 20 * since the blower install I more then likely would have had a blown Head gasket. Before the tune I had #30 Injectors which I thought were enough but it would still run lean at 5,000 RPMS even w/ the Fuel Pressure jacked up to 60 PSI. I had an FMU on the car last yr a 8:1 disc but the car never ran right w/ the FMU on it.

If I were you I would upgrade to #42 LB injectors and a matching Mass air meter and get it tunned ( dont necessarly need a chip but just find out where your A/F raito is across the RPM range) 33 PSI does seem low, the stock setting is 38-40 PSI . You really do need to get it tunned though b/c whats the point of having a blown car if you cant ever take it past 3,5000 RPMS w/ out fear of white smoke pouring out the back? At this point my car is tunned safe and tunned right so I have no worries as far as blowing a head gasket or anything worse due to incorrect A/F ratio or timming. Good luck w/ your blown combo, blown stangs are so much fun

So where in southwest Virginia do you think that I can get a tune? Kind of lost here-is there a way to check air/fuel without having your car on a dyno? Thanks for the information.

You can check your A/F w/ a wide band 02 sensor. Try posting in the regional section on here for your location and asking them where there are some dyno performance shops in your area.

boost + 19lb. injectors + no tune = disaster waiting to happen

just to give you an example.....my car was running perfectly fine with the nitrous (or so it seemed). look at my dyno graph and see how lean i was running when on the bottle. it wouldnt have been long before i had some major problems if i didnt get on the dyno when i did. dont chance it, get that thing tuned.

I think he may be referring to the FP at idle with vaccum. 33# i thought was ok, with vaccum. I am at 40# right before she boosts, then its up from there. I agree with everyone else, get her on a dyno or get a wideband. Cheap insurance, relatively speaking.
