I know a stang has a stock rev-limiter but I want one I can either adjust or buy pills for to set it around 6800RPM just makes me feel A LOT safer when playing around in my stang.

Iv got heads, cam, intake, tb, gears, etc etc I was thinking of a aftermarket ignition and coil, which are good? I dont want to spend a lot of money but I want somthing pretty good, iv heard the Crane HI-6 are better then the MSD 6AL. What about a MALLORY HYFIRE there cheap...

OR can I JUST BUY a rev-limiter or change mine around to 6700 or so?

Thanks in advance! :spot:

If your gonna spend the money on a rev limiter just spend the money on a ignition box. THey help if you have high compression (like me, running 10.8 to 1) or boost. Crane's are all digital with a digital rev limiter which is nice cuz you can change it whenever you want without pills just a screw driver. Also, since its digital with just 1 mainboard theres less to go wrong with it that the old tech msd 6AL. Also, watch out for deals on crane cuz I got mine with a $65 LX-92 coil for free with the ignition box from summit. I had a busted rev limiter or it was removed somehow by the previous owner and so I wanted just a rev limiter too but I got the box and could not be happier. Oh and if you care for boxes, look into the MSD digital 6 box. Thats a really nice piece from what I hear. But its also pricey and kinda pointless if your just looking for a rev limiter.

I plan on going with the Crane HI-6 when I get my ignition...probably the package deal that comes with the coil and the wiring adapter. MSD products seem to work well when they are operational, but if you do enough searches you'll see that a LOT of guys have had MSD boxes go bad. Haven't seen that problem from Crane, Accel, or Mallory.

Go-Stang5.0, you say you got the LX-92 coil with your package but the one I've seen from Summit comes with the PS-91 coil.

Anybody know the difference between the HI-6 and the HI-6s?

unless you have a chip to bypass the rev limiter in your stock computer, setting an msd box at 6800rpm isnt going to do a thing

Exactly. The computer shuts off the fuel and the ignition boxes simply cut the spark. So to go over 6250 you must reprogram the computer. I have my limiter set to 6000rpms to protect the engine from the factory rev limiter. No fuel, a blower, and 6200+rpms don't go together well. :nonono:
