Water pump a good ground?

Hey guys. When I put in my 3G I also added some extra beefy ground lines. One went from the open bolt hole in the driver's side head to the sway bar. Well I am currently pulling my A/C and putting in a FRPP delete which needs this hole.

I was wondering if it would be ok to move the ground wire to one of the studs on the water pump. Its right in the same spot and I will down there anyway. Will this be as good of a ground? If not where else can I do this?

BTW the ground wire is 1.5' 4 AWG cable.

As long as it`s one of the studs that threads directly into the block it`s ideal.

i tend to agree with that.

i bolted mine to an ac compressor bracket bolt. i used an ohm meter before to see if it seemed to conduct well, and it conducted as well as it did when i put the test probes on different points of the block....so as mentioned above as long as it's into the block you should be fine, providing it's conected to the chasis in a good spot.

I'm not sure which ones go into the block and which do not. Is there a way to tell?

I believe I mocked it up on the 2nd one up from the bottom on the driver's side. Its the stud not being used by the A/c delete bracket.

i have a 2g cable that runs from the block in the same place that the stock ground wire used to be. i unbolted that skinny little thing and bolted the 2g in in its place and ran it to the negative terminal....in my hatch

Considering all the corrosion and broken bolt horror stories posted here about water pump bolts, I think that I would choose something else. Any other bolts on the engine block would be fine. The A/C compressor mount is a good choice, that's were my extra ground is located.

I'm with JR - the galvanization issue would steer me away from using that locale, given how many other places there are.

You could make another cable or use a pre-fabbed one from the parts store if needing more length [insert joke here].
