how can i tell if it is reverse rotation or standard? what are the symptoms of running a standard pump instead of the reverse rotation pump? i bought one a while back from a member and i assumed it is a standard pump for the 5.0l.
i just installed it last weekend along with a stant 180 stat and it appears when the car is at operating temp and i look into the radiator the coolant is just barely flowing from the tubes. the radiator tank on the pass side is extremely hot while the tank on the driver's side is warm to the touch. could a sticking thermostat cause these issues also?
btw...i am running a efan.

thanks

Is the car cooling properly?
Does the heat work?

heat works fine. i have my autometer gauge sender tapped into the thermo housing and it has been fluctuating inconsistantly. sometimes while moving the temps on the gauge will drop to read ~160 while the temps on my pms read ~195. i believe my thermo may be sticking as i didn't verify it prior to the install.

I'm not sure that's the best place for the gauge to be plumbed into.
If the thermostat closes it will read water that's just sitting there since coolant comes from the intake to the radiator.

I'd put the sensor in the intake where most people put it, you may need an adapter.

If the thermostat was sticking, likely the temp would rise substantially, then drop like a bomb when it finally opened.

Don't know much about the pms, but if it has it's own sensor and that's reading from the intake side, that could be why the temp is different when the thermostat closes.

the pms reads off the ecu so i'm comfortable with my autometer in the thermo housing. its been there for over 10 years. there is usually a 10* difference between the 2.
i have verified the thermostat is definitely working. i put it in a pot of boiling water with a thermometer. i believe its a faulty pump because when i remove the radiator cap while the engine is at op temp there is very little water trickling from the flow tubes. my aluminum rad is about 2 years old and in great shape.
just went to napa and picked up a new pump. i'll post back with results once i install it.
thanks for the replies.

I could be wrong , but I believe all HO 302's are reverse flow water pumps.

yeah...but i'm questioning whether the pump i installed is a reverse rotation pump. i bought it on the corral over a year ago and i just installed it.
anyone have a diagram showing the directional coolant flow?
