My last car payment this month on the 95GT.

Bought her used 4.5 years ago. Apart from the exhaust, she's completely stock.

Time for a change. I want to keep the engine stock. At first I was thinking heads, cam, pulleys, gears (Still got 2.73 gears!), Lentch valve body, throttle body, manifold, a small 6 psi Powerdyne, yada, yada...

:nonono:

Then it hit me. All I really need is to change my headers - get the FRP headers, and to increase the intake side, a new intake manifold - GT-40.

And a 6psi 1.8L Kenne Bell.:D

Far cheaper than the first option. Keeps the car better for a daily driver. The way the KB kicks in down low, I wouldn't have to change the rear gears - no traction issue if I keep them in. I like the milage I get with the 2.73 gears. Changing the pulley to 9psi at the track if I need another 25hp or so. I think it would be kinda cool to go 13's with stock block/heads in a 95 GT.

It sounds quite simple the way you put it. Only problem is, when you start Modding. It never ends. Get a long term goal and do it right the first time.

13's are the long term. Driveablilty is the other issue. I never wanted really, to do any mods. I was perfectly happy with the car - I still am. I don't want to touch the longblock. If it aint't broke, don't fix it.

I know the lower intake manifold has breathing difficulties and it's "dogleg" is a bad bottleneck, so I'm going to replace that with a GT lower to go with the KB.
Just wanted a little more OOOMPH so I don't get killed by the new '05 and up V6 cars.

Dan good choice on the KB. That will kick ass. You could spend a little more and get your heads off and get a good porting job at a machine shop. They would flow as better as the GT40P heads I think. Dont worry about our cam, it is a pretty good power adder cam. Gears are always good but if you want to keep your 2:73's in then it's your choice.

I was wondering when you would chime in.

Who in the area does head porting and how much is it? I think it would be a good idea, upgrade the gaskets, springs, keepers, etc.

Only thing is, I ripped up my shoulder REAL bad this year doing my plugs. Couldn't move it for 3 months - a rotator cuff problem at first, then the shoulder socket dried out. Now I can't wrench stuff in so I'm going to have to hire someone to do it. :nonono:

Sorry about the shoulder. I'm sure me and Jimmy could do it. It's just that AC would be in the way. Not used to work with AC stuff in there. I dont really know the shops that do it. But they're out there for sure. Price...I still dont know. A couple of hundred bucks for sure but you'll have way better flow. Yes, I good 3angle valve job, better springs, maybe upgrade to a 1.7rr ratio, if needed. Not sure if it's better with the KB for the stock cam. I'd call big Steve at Campbell. I'm sure he knows the places that do good porting job.
