indeed, I'm starting to think that this was either a brand new block or a brand new shortblock from Ford

Another question. Why you boring the block, that doesn't need a bore fromm the looks of it. Mine almost didn't need one, and it had over 100k miles on it.

Setback today: the rods I ordered from an eBay store are now backordered 4-6 months. He refunded my money to my PayPal, so it looks like I'm back to rod-shopping rather than buying pistons this friday

February 9th update

Pistons are on the way, the machine shop is awaiting their arrival so he can do the final hone on the block. I'm shopping for rods so I can order those and get them to the machine shop for balancing. I figure the sooner I can get the new shortblock done and back here at the garage, the more motivation it will provide in me getting the GT torn apart.

Speaking of teardown......

I spent some quality time under the GT today, tackling the X-pipe that was rusted and draining the transmission. Thank god for full-length subframes

Damn X-pipe

My FRPP head-changing kit came in. I'm using this stuff to put the current heads and cams on the built shortblock until I can finish rebuilding my spare set of heads.

ARP Main Studs arrived as well

Tomorrow, I tackle the driveshaft

Feb. 11th update

everything on the engine, trans and exhaust is completely disconnected. I only have to remove the radiator and the a/c lines and she will be ready to be pulled. That date is Feb 21st and 22nd. I'm gonna borrow my friend's cherry picker and have a few friends over to give the stock motor the heave-ho!

Pics from today. I pulled the motor mounts, the LT's, valvecovers, the oil filter housing and the clutch today. I need a set of multi-point sockets and a crank pulley puller to progress any further.

so I worked mad hours the past 2 weeks in prep for the last order the final build. Tomorrow, I'm taking the pistons to school and my teacher is going to show me how to size and fit file-to-fit piston rings.

thursday/friday: Ordering: Prof. Products Typhoon lower, ModMax connecting rods, MMR sidebolts for the main caps, new water pump, motor mounts, radiator and heater hoses, few more gaskets, front and rear main seals and a fitting that goes in my P/S steering pressure line (have a leak there)

a week from this weekend or whenever the parts arrive: start building the new motor.

Resurrection date: March 27th for the Good Guys show in Pleasanton
