Do you guys think this set up will pass the sniffer test for emissions?

I dont think it will without paying to have it fine tuned. I have emissions here to and I would never pass either. This is what you do to get around emissions. Find a surrounding county and open a P.O. box. Then go to the liscence office to have your car registered to that P.O. box. Mark on the emissions card the box that says "vehicle moved out of testing area." Totally legal and I have yet to take emissions for the past 6years. Just go to the box every 2-3 months to clean out the junk mail. And dont forget to pay the box fee every year or how you set it up.

I think the only issue is the heads. I think if you de-tune the car enough it should barely pass. Anyone with a similar set up pass?

The laws in GA are a little different. You also need a physical address to get a PO box in a county. That does not work for me, but I appreciate the response.

Lying about your home address is totally legal?
If the states ever decided to crack down on this, you would be screwed.
Remember you are decieving a State agency, that is not little matter. You may as well be telling the IRS that you moved out of the country.

I know many folks do this, and I have never heard of anyone being busted for it.
I guess the principle of it bugs me.
So much effort is made to escape emissions testing.
It would be much simpler in most cases to just fix the car and pass the test straight up.

Having fresh cats is a big plus.
All the little "tricks" to passing emissions are a joke in my experience.

Here are my results with my 2.3L '87. I had no chance of passing until the cat went in.


All tests were done at the same Test Facility using the same Test Equipment. Test Operators did very however.
Tested vehicle was an N/A 1987 Mustang Coupe. Mileage was 134,093 on first test, and 136,268 on final test (#4).
Other than the Catalytic Converter being removed, the car was in good running order for first test and all other tests. No Diagnostic codes were present.

Added New O2 Sensor, increased tire pressure to 52psi, disconnected fan to get engine hotter (good for reducing HC). Had run "Guaranteed to Pass" in previous tank (followed directions)

A NEW Catalytic Converter from MagnaFlow had just been installed. At the time of the test, the cat had about 125 miles on it.

If there is no visual check, you should be able to get it to pass. Even if there is, the car may be old enough that the inspection guys have no clue.

This if your cats are good.

Mine passed (not with current setup), with only the cats, no other smog equipment.

For the most part, the cam dictates pass or fail when you are using Cats. And the E, is emmissions friendly.

You just don't want it to run to rich at idle, i know what that smells like.

They visual check for cats and that's it. Main issue is the sniffer.

It passed, has to put a new cap an and rotor on and retard the timing to 8 degrees. No smog pump.
