What are you binge watching/playing for the apocalypse?

The cows are the best because you are surrounded by all of these nice animals until you show an act of violence then your screwed.

Dude... I want to see that x1000.

I am a single wave of destruction with a glass jaw. LoL

In my current gear, I cannot find enough of a wave of MOBs to overtake me. A single unnoticed Boss hit though, and I see the little gravesite pop up before I know what happened.

In a group with good CC and a chance to get all my procs going, I can meat grind anything in-game. When I play solo, I just have to keep em off me.

I use the boots that allow me to run through MOBs and their obstacles. They're invaluable.

I was a raid leader and guild vice-master in Wrath and Mists of Pandaria. Raiding got to the point it was taking up more time in my life than work. I forced myself to be a filthy casual for the bit of Legion I played.

I may have made a mistake last night. One of my best friends has been trying his hardest to play WoW, but he just wasn't getting it with the priest or warlock he'd rolled in Classic. So I took him over to my ol' retail stomping grounds and we rolled a fresh pair of death knights... And I went tank spec on mine...

We had some serious struggles when we first started. We started out in Balanazaar . . . as Alliance. It's PVP with something like 80% Horde. It was awful, BUT we learned how to PVP like maniacs.

I hit terminal in vanilla, and Lisa hit it in BC. We tried to get into a guild, and all I heard was "are you attuned, yet?" And if you weren't, they wouldn't even talk to you. We didn't have many terminal friends, and the ones we knew weren't, well, they just weren't really that good. It was REALLY tough for us to get through the three (I'm going back into my memory) instances to get attuned. Dude, I still hear "TIME FOR FUN!" in my sleep! LOL! It took us, no kidding, a couple of months to finally get enough good groups to get through. In true anti-climatic manner, we got the very last instance with a group that just happened to be there. We went with a group, and they were terrible. They quit, and we were outside the instance. Three toons were there, and we talked to them. It was some "guildies" running a new guy through to get last of the attunement. They were going to THREE MAN IT . . . but said we're welcome to come along. I laughed because five couldn't do it so NO WAY could 2 good players and one about like us do it. Sheeesh . . . like 45 minutes later Lisa and I have completed the instance with them, and it was like "meh . . . I didn't even fight the last boss fight".

We got attuned and got into a guild. We did the first raid with them, and it was PAINFUL. They were all jerks, and since we weren't experts already, we got dumped. Then we got into a really laid back guild with some good players. They really helped us out, and they were patient. Lisa got REALLY into it because they raided slow, methodical, and they explained things to her. Once she got some gear, she was in friggin' demand. There were practically zero shadow priests, and she was pretty geared. Mages and locks in the guild got to where they'd only run with her for the manna. My hunter got geared up, and then they found out I had a tank. They bum rushed him for gear, and then I was tanking. We were pretty hooked then.

The next expansion came out, we got terminal, and by then we were in a new guild. These guys were serious. A bunch of them were either retired old dudes or people home on disability i.e. they played, literally, all day long. We had to work hard every night just to keep up with all the crap we needed to raid with them. They just got too demanding, and Lisa got fed up one night. Oddly enough, when I "saw it all", I agreed, and we pretty much have quit.

I played some vanilla, but I haven't in a while. My son still plays retail, but not nearly as seriously. Honestly, it's lost a lot of the complexity and challenge, so it's not that big a deal, anymore. Another thing is that, eh, a lot of the social aspect is gone, too. LFG, at first, was like the most wonderful thing ever. After a while, though, you star figuring out that being in a guild isn't a big deal, anymore, because you can do everything through LFG that you used to rely on your guildy friends for. That's probably one of the main reasons we sort of quit.

It's not the same as when it was rolling out as new material and everyone was trying to figure it out.

I think they really hurt the game when they dumbed it all down and tried leveling DPS across the classes. Ther really is no line between DPS and Support characters anymore. Everyone is DPS and everyone is Support and it's just, "meh".

Agreed. No one is "special" anymore. I know they had gripes for years because some classes didn't peak as much dps, and some guilds didn't welcome them to raid. What they did A LITTLE was make specific tasks during raids well suited for the "off" classes like Hunter and S Priest. There was one raid that couldn't even be completed without a Shadow Priest, and there was another one where Hunter misdirection was amazingly helpful. That was pretty cool, but I guess they stopped that.

And yeah, they really screwed up when they dumbed it down so much. I played a little hunter on vanilla, and CRAP, I could do like 5 or 6 different things in a fight. It was sort of fun again. My terminal Hunter (who I love to play) has been reduced to a 2 button rotation for the most part. That's pretty lame.

I loved the era of the "utility hunter". It ended when Wrath ended.

Kiting blood beasts around in circles while my raid killed Deathbringer Saurfang, or myself and another hunter playing ping-pong with two of Moroes' adds, or hunter pet tanking one of The Four Horseman... SO much fun.

They took too much of the [stats for nerds] out of WoW.

You could no longer really sit around with 10 to 12 of your favorite players and build and tune your toons to function as a unit.

Damn...

:chin

Now that I think about it... When I deployed back in the days and before WiFi was even a thing, the folks at the media center at deployed locations-

Note* - I was Airforce on heavies so usually at hardened airport-style facilities that had "things" and "stuff"

-almost always had a WoW server setup over a Local Area Network. It always struck me as odd and invariably, I would gather enough folks together to go play on days off. Those are about some crafty bastards. Juss' sayin' :O_o:

I agree.

I was a MM/MM hunter with my offspec tuned specifically for extra range and utility in certain fights in Wrath. My DPS dropped 3% from my main spec, but I could do things nobody else could.

I had a friend that was dual BM/BM. Same thing, his main spec was all about DPS, his off-spec was a swiss army knife.

We raided with a our casual guild regularly, and pugged the alt run several of the top guilds on our server ran together every week.

Yeah, I remember the days of "theorycrafting" and some website . . . "elitebastards" or something?? People got really into the numbers deeper than they probably should have. Now though, I mean I'm sure some people still do, but it's pretty cookiecutter. I mean, you can raid pretty much right after terminal, and if you do "LFR" groups, you just run them till you get a good group. You can still only do a raid once a week, but you don't have to prep for it much. Just do it till you get a good group.

They have a tiered and timed heroic system now that is interesting, but it's odd at the same time. Basically you have multiple levels of the same heroic instance, and they drop either nothing or one thing at the final boss . . . can't remember. At the end, if you do it at or below a specific time, you get a key to do the next level at some random instance. It's tougher and the loot is better. At the end of the week, you get a random epic that has stats that coincide with the tier you got completed. You need a pretty good team to do the higher level things, but the gear is nice. I like the idea of that, BUT since you don't really have a strong guild draw, anymore, it's hard to get a solid team to consistently progress with.

And that's one of the bad sides to the whole LFG and LFR system. It doesn't circumvent the need for the elite players to build and develop a guild. It circumvents the need for everyone else to even need a guild to speak of. That means your guild is limited to REALLY SERIOUS players, and that's fine UNLESS you're sort of in the middle. I wouldn't mind playing more challenging content, but I can't live it. There's no real place for me. I either hope I get a good random group, or start to "live it" again . . .which I'm not.

I love BM hunter . . . love it love it love it. :)

What I ended up doing is running my hunter to terminal and have him fund the family (mining/skinning). I raided at lvl 60, but did most of our stuff in BC and WOTLK.

The most fun I had was in WOTLK. I got my hunter pretty strong, and I had a terminal warrior and pally. All the guilds had an "A" team for raiding, but lots of them had a "B" team of new players and alts. Those groups always struggled to get a tank or healer, so I would "offer my services" to them. My tanks were "just good enough" for initial raiding, so it was perfect. My deal was that I either kept all the upgrade tank gear OR I'd pass on everything and their A team would take my hunter on a better raid and I got first pick of hunter gear. LOL! Worked like a champ. I ended up pugging for 2 or 3 guilds by the time the word got out (not a really big server).

My main guild called me out and said pugging for another guild was sort of against their rules, so I asked them if they wanted to help me build my tanks on their time. Derp. They figured it out that the other guilds were actually building up the next two tanks for our guild. Problem solved . . . And when I couldn't tank good enough, I wiped ANOTHER GUILD . . . not ours. LOL!

That was actually a fun time because guilds mattered, and people would wheel and deal for help if the guild was building up. Lisa had an alt that got some great raid gear because I was tanking for someone else and they needed a spare person. I could stipulate she got first choice of hunter gear (like anyone else was running a hunter), and off we'd go. And WOTLK had a few "small" raids that people could do pretty quickly, so that made it better.

I'm reacquainting myself with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. I never watched it when I was a kid since my reasoning—if you could call it that—was, "it just takes place on a space station? That sounds boring".

Turns out that boldly going nowhere translates into a show that is far more character driven. I'm enjoying it a lot so far. I'm remembering a few episodes of which I saw snippets a long time ago, but most of it is new to me.

Wait till Sisko shaves his head. "Riker's beard" was nothing compared to the change in DS9 when Sisko lost the hair.

I think what threw B5 into interest was a) really good writing and b) they WOULD kill of major characters. You didn't KNOW the good guy was going to make it every time. It was like a precursor to The Walking Dead in that respect.
