what cam for the street??

Something that works well for stock heads might not be great for the heads you choose down the road. Another thing to keep in mind. I personally run the stocker, and love the way it runs and feels on the street, or the track.

I agree with 25th mustang...if you are going to fo a full HCI later, your cam choice now will not be ideal. Now that I'm running a mild street cam (Steeda # 18) I really miss the stocker. Dont get me wrong i love the pull i get from the steeda cam up top but I miss the below 2000rpm grunt of the stocker. The stock cam is actually a really well matched piece for the stock H/I. Its even a decent mild HCI cam. If you really want a little more cam for the time being you can retard the stocker 4* and get some 1.7 roller rockers. That will give you a little more top end and a little more max valve lift. good luck

I agree 110%, some 1.6s or 1.7s (again take into account the heads and cam you might run later) and the stocker 4 degrees back will wake the car right up. Moves the power band up a good amount, and will feel faster. The rockers should also give you a slightly choppier idle, which is another thjing people who buy cams look for.

1 vote for stock with 1.7rr.I love the torque of the stock cam especially if it's mainly a street car

Leave the stock one in it for now, mix and matching h/c/i is a good way to make very good power if done correctly. Get a professional/reputable cam grinder to spec out a cam for your wants and needs, and help with the rest of the combo.

I had a few parts in mind, had to change one item, then bought the rest of the stuff and had my machine shop put the motor together. Know what you will use the car for, and how fast you want to go, then its easy from there. AFR165s, with a motorsport intake are alot of fun on the street.

Ed at FTI helped me out, along with Thomas Moss, and my engine builder as well, with a great tune at Speedys. No driveability problems at all with my coupe, drove it 2-1/2 hrs away for a tune, then drove it back home. Should put down easy low 12s, and once the suspension is right and I know how the car likes to be driven, it should creep well into the 11s.
