Mine is stock. My car is 99% stock, Flowmasters went on a week after the first owner bought it. I will be needing one on my '99 GT eventually and want to shop around for the best pricing.

All I need is something will better holding power than stock, yet can hold up to hard street driving and a occasional track outing. Future mods include basic boltons like TB, CAI, LTH and Xpipe, nothing special, no forced induction for me (yet) .

I have a friend with a modular fox and he uses the King Cobra, and says I would be satisfied with that clutch.

Any recomendations and where I could get a good deal on a clutch kit?

The Centerforce Dual Friction clutch is one of the best clutches for are cars.

For the money, I don't think you can beat a King Cobra clutch kit (~$160 for TOB, pressure plate and disc). Either resurface your flywheel or pick up a new one for about $100 and replace your clutch fork, pivot ball, and pilot bearing. My KC is a fairly light pedal, but grabs very hard.

I'd say McLeod, but since you got a 99, get a King Cobra

I have roughly 380rwhp now and the stock clutch is holding up fine! MM quadrant/firewall adjuster is 100% neccesary IMO though - regardless of what clutch you go with. I'll be going with McLeod or Spec Stg3 when I need a replacement (probably when I swap up to a TKO600 actually).

I run a McLeod in my cobra. I use to run a king cobra when I had the t45 in the car but the clutch ripped apart in about 2k miles.

Stocker here as well. And it hates me, thats for sure.

Doesnt grab too hard, has about 100k on it... if I hit 2nd or 3rd hard enough, but the tires dont break loose or chirp I think I can feel it slipping a little bit.

I've had both a CenterForce Dual friction and a my current Spec Stage 3 both in the last year. I really like them both. I only changed to the spec because i had the fresh motor going in and had to changeto a new flywheel (8 bolt). The centerforce looked brand new coming out but i just didn't feel comfy reusing it. I do like the spec now though. Holds really, really good.

One of the best deals is the FRPP Cobra 11" upgrade clutch. It is a 8 bolt design so it can be used on the 99/00 T-45 GTs. I picked mine up for $180 and that includes new flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and TOB. No need to resurface your old one.

well i bought a spec, but after the engine build went with a centerforce and I love it. I have let some friends take the car down the 1/4 and they burnt the clutch everytime. On ne pass i could even smell it from the stands and the centrerforce has never even hicupped.

great product.

def a mcleod but i would call up cj ponly parts and order a tumas clutch set up. Its a mcleod disc with the new frpp heavy duty pressure plate design. Its an excellent set up and the set up bill tumas has used. If you dont know who he is do a search online. He had one of the fastest 4v n/a cars now has a blower car. I talked to him about the set up and this is what he told me about it
Well I am Tumas so I am biased lol. I have run them all and would reccomend the Tumas clutch. Its a combo of Mcleod and FRPP parts and it flat out works. If you go over on www.superstallions.com at all do a search and you will be amazed. I ran one for 2 years, 50 7000 rpm clutch drops and a few thousand street miles, took it out and it was still good. A friend grabbed it and made over 70 passes on it in a 12 sec car before it started to slip a little. Several people have gone 10s with one although I would not reccomend them at that power level. I have reccomended the setup to many people and have yet to have any complaints about it...

edit:
btw stay away from king cobra clutchs. They suck if you have any power or do high rpm launches at the track.
