I am running the setup in my sig with what I thought was a 2400 stall torque convertor. I am having to run the idle RPM's way too high (1100) to keep from stalling when in gear. I am looking to step up to a better convertor for Christmas and need some advice on brand and stall. I am running a 25.5" tall tire at the moment. Please help!!

1100 in gear? or in park? That is a big cam, so it will need some rpm to idle properly, but you probably have a different problem when you put it in gear and it dies

In Park it idles over 1K and drops to around 800 in gear. It does not die in gear I just would like to idle it lower in Park. I am thinking a bigger stall convertor would help?

I don't think a bigger stall is going to help unless you get it so big that there is no grabbing at all at 800 rpm. It should be fine where you are, but I bet that cam you have recommends a 3000 stall, you should look into that. I think it is fairly normal though that you idle 1k+ in park and 800 in gear with a cam that big. If you had a manual tranny, I would suggest idleing at 800 at least...

lol, I have the exact same issue but mines 1700 out of gear and 1200 in gear. LOL 1100-1200 on mine would be ideal but my converter is too tight to allow that.

Small Diameter but tighter stall would probably do what you need, our Shelby has a 9" converter with a 3500 rpm stall and pretty much idles at 1k rpm either in or out of gear. (Car actually wont move till about 1200-1300rpm)

My 10" on my stang is way way too tight. Its really trying to move the car at 900-1000 rpm and with my new setup at 900rpm the car is shaking like a mother and barely running.

Personally Id talk with a tranny shop like Art Carr or PA. (or similar) to get a converter built to what you need. (Best if you have a dyno curve)

The convertor I have is really trying to push the car more than I think it should when in gear. It is a fairly fresh build on the engine so a dyno tune for the air flow and jetting would be a good idea before I go changing the convertor and it end up being timing/fuel related. I am running the original dizzy also which may be an issue also. I should post a new thread but what would be the best choice for a new dizzy considering I would like to keep the Pertronix setup, not have a ignition box and keep my new female style plug wires?
