I have the stock 302 in my car now and i wanted to upgrade it and its jus not worth the money to get any real power. I heard it was easier to get 400-500 hp out of a 351. My buddy told me that he had a 351 with 40,000 miles on it running condtion sitting in his garage. I could get it for 400 bucks. Now what kind of power can i get out of a 351 if i stroke it? Also what is some recomended steps that i have to do before such a swap. can i use my t-5 or should i look into a different tranny? Im not worry about breaking it cause my budget is somewhat tight but all i want to kno will it fit? also should i carb it of keep it fuel injected? also what to u recomend for heads, cams, injectors, throttle body, all the good stuff i need to know before i shoot myself in the foot?

thank you:SNSign: :SNSign:
jus to let u kno power doesnt bother me the more the better

do you read muscle mustang's and fast ford's or 5.0L magizine? in both they have had exellent articles about how much power can be had from a 351w. im not sure if it is easier however i say this because a rebuld of your 302 with a nice set of heads and intake along with a super charger and you will make more then 400 ponies. a 408 stroker has a 500+ hp potential N/A which is impressive but it will cost some bucks to build it.

oil pan, motor mounts, 351 swap headers, cowled hood. Other than THOSE things the 351 should pretty much drop in. I may be forgetting something though.

You'll probly want something stronger than a T-5 behind a 351. T-5's are barely strong enough for a stock 302, let alone a 351.

The power you get out of this motor all depends on how much you stroke it and what kind of components you put on it. And all that depends on how much money you want to spend. If you are on a tight budget, you will probly have a stronger motor in the end if you stick with a 302. The 351 swap items are just added costs that could get you some nice components for a 302.

It's up to you though. 351's are nice, but you gotta pay to play.
