not that i expect to get great gas mileage with the gt, but do cams really eat up gas? i really didnt plan on cams because of emissions, but im considering a little stage 1 cam maybe. i dont know crap about them though. can anyone give me some cam tips or anything. is there anything else needed with cams. i know i want a tune, but i dont need bigger injectors or anything do i ?

I would imagine your gas mileage would drop a bit. Since you are using the cams for performance and now the car operatates optimally at high rpms, therefore the engine is working harder. I would imagine that gas mileage WOULD get worse. Fun Factor would increase though :nice:

I personally WAS going to get the VT Stage 2s, but changed my mind and might be getting Stage 1s like you sometime...

No need for bigger injectors or springs or anything. As for milage, it may drop sightly because the car will be pulling in more air and as a result more gas will be added. STG1s hould be great for a DD because the loose no lowend torque or HP and a good shift point is around 6200RPMs. With stg 2s you need valve springs, and the best shift point is around 6500. Many people have spun bearings shifting that high.

my car gets better milage now than it did when it was stock. it seems like everytime i do a major mod it gets better milage  i'm in WV right now & on my trip up here i got 230 miles on about 1/2 of a tank

btw - i have vt stage 1 cams & all the bolt ons

Me too...except the gears. But it didn't make that much difference then either.

Stock I used to get 310 miles to a tank...after gears it was 280...PI intake, 70MM TB, TF Plenum and Comp 262 cams later and I'm back to 300. :nice:

awsome, i think i might say the hell with it and go ahead and get the cams. im going to get my inspection before i put them in then i will be good for 2 yrs. ill worry about it later. :D

yea stage 1 seem perfect for the street. are there any ill effects of cams though, is there alot that can go wrong with them....or once they are installed correctly they are good to go? what do yo guys think of comp cams?
