not that i expect to get great gas mileage with the gt, but do cams really eat up gas? i really didnt plan on cams because of emissions, but im considering a little stage 1 cam maybe. i dont know crap about them though. can anyone give me some cam tips or anything. is there anything else needed with cams. i know i want a tune, but i dont need bigger injectors or anything do i ?

the cams dont have that much effect on gas mileage, it's the fact that people get "happy feet" after the install and tend to spin the tires alittle more

I would imagine your gas mileage would drop a bit. Since you are using the cams for performance and now the car operatates optimally at high rpms, therefore the engine is working harder. I would imagine that gas mileage WOULD get worse. Fun Factor would increase though

I personally WAS going to get the VT Stage 2s, but changed my mind and might be getting Stage 1s like you sometime...

No need for bigger injectors or springs or anything. As for milage, it may drop sightly because the car will be pulling in more air and as a result more gas will be added. STG1s hould be great for a DD because the loose no lowend torque or HP and a good shift point is around 6200RPMs. With stg 2s you need valve springs, and the best shift point is around 6500. Many people have spun bearings shifting that high.

Me too...except the gears. But it didn't make that much difference then either.

Stock I used to get 310 miles to a tank...after gears it was 280...PI intake, 70MM TB, TF Plenum and Comp 262 cams later and I'm back to 300.
