Hey guys I'm kinda jumping the gun on my fox body drag car, but I was wondering what first gear ratio you guys with a power glide were using and how much your car weighs. I guess your hp numbers might help too.

Should be around 1100-1300HP, drag radial tire, 3300lbs

1.76 ratio

You'll find most use the 1.76 to help get the car off the line a little easier when using a small tire. The 1.82 ratio I find is not as widely used... If you need some PG info let me know ;)

By small tire I guess you mean around 28" 10.5 ? I'm sure your coming off a trans break... I kinda like Dynamic. With the ultra bell. I was hoping the ultra bell would give me a little more clearence.

rick...i trust your information and respect your opinions. but i just wanted to question your idea to go with a glide in a car that weighs that much. everything i have read and heard from guys that run them and guys that have drag car say that a glide isnt worth a damn unless the car weighs less than 2000 lbs. i understand that your car is making tons of power but is it really gonna be able to leave the line like you want?

Um....im not sure about that. I dont know about you but there arent that many drag cars running under 2000 lbs. Perhaps you meant 3000 pounds. With 1100-1300 hp in a 3300 pound car i dont think he has much to worry about.

You'll find every NMRA Radial Car has a glide, and they normally 60ft in the low 1.40's or quicker. The C4 even with all the ratio's out will not allow the car to leave without destroying the tires no matter what chassis you have, and the glide also holds the power these cars make, where a C4 will not hold up.

I don't recommend a glide for a street car or a low HP car, it just is overkill will rob the ET and will not be as fun.

Yes a 28 x 10.5 would be a small tire, non W tire. I also use an Ultra Bell and a home built PG with all the goodies. I use a custom header so bell clearance was not a large issue for me, but it is pretty damn big and you'll find you will have to "massage" the tunnel a little depending on how low your car/motor,tranny combo sits.
