I am setting up the car now. I will be initially running the Typhoon Intake (pic). What has been the better intake for boost lately??? I have searched and researched and looking for quicker answers... Preferences out there?

Thx

i would get the holley system max, trickflow, gt40 etc..these are good intakes. you can use the typhoon but thats really not a good intake . Maybe for a stock 302 just my opinion>

the typhoon is a decent intake, i use one and its just a copy of the edelbrock, only flaw would be rough ports, but anyone serious about performance doesnt just bolt something on, they at least gasket match and while gasket matching a small clean up and smoothing takes no time. even the good stuff will have the occasional bump or pit in them, its just part of the casting process, which isnt perfect.

my upper of my typhoon is polished and it appears to be polished via a tumbling machine with hard media to shine it up, so the ports were smooth and nice on the upper. my lower was gasket matched but from what wasnt touched, it looked perfectly fine, nothing wrong with it at all.

other thing is i had a problem with the dizzy hitting the hump where the t-stat sits, i had the knock the edge of the TFI module off, and the upper also sits REALLY close to the back of the dizzy, i had to take a grinder and knock some plastic off, no biggie.

overall the intake performed great and the small problems i had were no biggie, espescially for the price, i got it used for a good price. you can get them new for 300.

also had brand new TFS street intake at one time, never used it but it was GOOD quality. i noticed where i had my dizzy problem with my typhoon, there was a little depression in the TFS just for the clearence, pretty nice!

the cobra is a good intake, but the typhoon will flow more.

Holley is basicly the best, but it looks like your going to have a pretty serious setup by your sig. A victor, TFS R, spyder intake may suit you better though. Do you have a full list of everything that will be done? Basicly you can throw any intake on there and it will still make power, Iam running a mild setup with a performer intake which is clearly holding it back but its still making decent power.

The fastest single turbo 5.0 I've ever seen at the race track, and I've seen a few, was running a TFS R intake with AFR 225cc heads.

Mind you, there are a bajillion possible combinations out there, so take that with a grain of salt.

A lot of forced induction people use the systemax intake. Their results seem to be pretty damn good so I would look into that or the TFSR.

If you're really serious, like 9 second ET or faster serious, i'd go with the TFS R....otherwise for my money i'd go with an Edelbrock Victor and an elbow upper.

I think most Forced INduction people with solid combos are running the Holley Systemax intake. It looks really nice too. I think for a turbo 351...i would look into the Systemax II, which i believe is a shorter running than the Systemax...which will help feed that 351 in the upper revs.

Ah, yes... the pic is attached of the preliminary building of the topend. Not that hard to get the intake on there! Another pic of the ride from behind. Going pretty far out with it, but keeping her looking STOCK for the street!

I don't have pics of the TT setup yet. Looking to put down around 550HP conservatively (trans capacity - built T5 - is right around there).
