Ok been chasing water leaks and the newest one is behind the water pump, i pulled the pump and where the pump pushes water through the timing chain cover is leaking,i think that's what it is, and i think it'll just be a gasket to replace, am i right and any advice, thanks

yes there is a gasket on the timing chain cover. don't foget the 4 bolts on bottom of oil pan that bolt into timing chain cover. maybe time for a cam swap. you are 75% there.

its tough to replace the gasket with the harmonic balancer on there- and make sure you dont over tighten the bolts when you put the pump and timing cover back on- i made that mistake and it leaked even more then it had before

lol oh yah i wonder how i missed that. drain the block of antifreeze aswell. Remove the harmonic balancer and all those acc on the front of the engine. you will probably have to pull the rad to get a puller on the balancer. Oh yah just so you don't do what i did first time i pulled a balabcer. Make sure when you pull out the bolt that holds it on the crank that you get the huge washer out aswell. it is kinda hard to pull it off it you are pushing on the washer at the same time.

as far as the 4 bolts that hold the pulley on the balance you are just gong to have to hold the engine frome turning over. maybe keep it in gear? or us a impact gun. it will spin quicker and take the bolts out without engine turning over. i think i usally get the longest flex bar i have and move it rally quick. a quick jerk usally loosens the bolts then you can just use a rachet to do the rest.

the pulley on the balancer has four bolts holding it to the balancer- those should come off pretty easily. the balancer is attached to the crank shaft by a 15/16" bolt that you need an impact gun to get off. it cranks out the normal way, you just may hafta pound away at it for a minute or two until you can break it loose. then you need a harmonic balancer pulley puller to get the balancer off. the easiest way to get that off it to thread the 15/16 bolt into the hole a few turns then let the puller push off of that. then when u get it loose take the bolt out all the way

you need to take that bolt out. But usally the pulley is held onto the balancer by 4 small bolts.

ok, after i found the 4 bolts you told me about and got a puller and i got it out, but i the corner of my timing cover broke off, so i gotta get a timing cover and then finish it. When i put the cover back on do i use gasket sealer or just the gasket, i know i need it for the water pump.also i'd like to see if my cam is a roller or a flat top, is there a easy way to do this due to the motor being open right now, thanks

Not unless you pulled the intake and the valve covers. Then you need to pull the lifters. Thats a whole lot of work to see what the cam is.

If you lost 2 bolts to the oil pan no doubt they are bolts that go into the timing chain cover. When you get your new timing chain cover at the parts store get the 2 bolts also that thread into it.

ok back where i started after fixing fuel lines, it not starting for 2 days and breaking my flashlight it starts, it runs, it leaks, i think the waterpump is bad, so i'll replace that, thanks for the help guys, what was odd though, the waster would drip off the corner of the oilpan when it meets the timing cover and there was a drip from the waterpump, but when it got warm it would just flow off that corner, and i could not find the source, so i'm gonna change the water pump, what do you guys think? thanks
