Hi guys. I'm considering buying a 06 GT. What is a stock 5speed running in the 1/4 mile stock? What is needed to hit the 12's besides a blower?

I was thinking, 4.10's, Drag radials, K&N, flowmasters, underdrive pulleys, lower control arms, and adjustable rear shocks. Is this a guarenteed 12 second recipe?

What is everybody talking about when they say the car needs to be flashed when you install a cold air intake? I have to take it to a dyno or buy a hand held tuner like a SCT or Diablo?

Also are these motors DOHC or SOHC? Thanks

Add some nitrous to that mix and you will see 12s no problem!

You shouldn't need nitrous to hit 12's with an '05 or '06. CAI, tune, gears, suspension, and tires should do it.

Now, perhaps you could use a nitrous kit with a tune as the only 2 mods and hit 12's, and maybe save some money over the other parts.

running with 20s

Hello everyone!
I am a new member, and look forward to meeting new people and fellow mustang enthusiasts.
I finally went and got me a 2006 Mustang GT Convertible and its SWEET! I traded in a 2005 V6 Convertible and the performance is no comparison. I loved the 2005 though, she was a good car. Just wanted more performance.
I have 3 questions:
Based off of these specs:
Flowmaster40 series exhaust
C&L cold air intake with custom tune from SCT Xcalibrator 2
Short throw custom Hurst shifter
It is a black on black convertible and a manual 5 spd trans
20 inch Lexani rims and low profile Toyo proxi4 tires
Would I be better off with the stock 17's I bought it with?
And based off my custom tune with the 20's, would it hurt the car trading out the tires for the 17s everyonce in a while? And finally what would I have to do to get track 12's with the 20's?

Thanks for any help I can get!!!!!!

Add an adjustable upper third link and you should reach 12's on a good track with good air. The new mustangs computer is sensitive to air intake changes so a hand held tuner is a must if you want optomial performance I recommend SCT with a tune by Brenspeed or Bamachips

I ran my 05 GT bone stock with 87 octane (all we had around here after the hurricane) on my 20's and was surprised with how well the car hooked up. Best run was 13.92 @ 99.78 with a 2.09 60 ft, figure with some good gas and a little more practice and she should run a bit quicker.

Now adding, UPR off road, Preditor, Mezier water pump, JLT cold air and 4.10's (if necessary) in search of 12 second ET's.
