What is the WOT voltage on the TPS??

My nitrouse system wont kick in anymore i tested my TPS sensor and at WOT it reads 4.6 volts.
I am thinking that because the zex kit is activated when the tps senses full throttle, The TPS is not Sending a WOT signal.
Also on the drive home from my buddys house the car decided it wanted to idle at 2000 rpms.
So what is the voltage reading on a 86 TPS sensor at WOT?

If I am correct in assuming your year is the same as my 90, then your tps is dead on. I keep getting 4.63 to 4.66v.

The idle not kicking down is something else, but I couldn't say what, I am having similar issues with the idle.

the idle voltage should be as close to one volt as possible but not over. full open should be as close to five volts as possible. it is a 5 volt reference system. somebody correct me if i am wrong.

The EEC sees WOT as anything at or greater than 3.7 volts, as I recall.

Jason and Troy are right. The most a TPS reads is about 4.5-4.8 volts.

i dont know about the zex system... but every other system has a micro switch that is mounted to the throttle body linkage that reads full throttle. and those sometimes go bad or need to be adjusted. i dont know if the zex actually reads tps voltage. it must?

So what does the TPS do exactly in response to a certain voltage. How does it know what to do when it gets 2.5V's or 3.2V's for example? I hope that made sense? Because I know it doesn't (late at night)

The TPS is just a rheostat. The best (which is horrible) analogy I can think of is an old-school volume knob on a radio. The knob had graduations between 1 and 10. The number correlated to how much volume to allow. Ditto for the TPS - the return-voltage lets the puter know how far one's foot is buried in the pedal.

It also monitors how much or little fluctuation has occured with the TPS for things like EGR.

I am not sure that is what you were asking, but...... I tired, err I mean tried.
