If you don't already know I have a 1994 mustang gt auto vert with Cai,pulleys, magnaflow exhaust,x pipe, shift kit,3:73's,3000 stall converter and timing at 14.I really wanna be in the high 13's,what mods should I get next that won't leave me broke?Nos,s/c,heads are out of the question at this time.
And if you can tell me the prices too. That would be great.

Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Since you've got a heavy 'vert try and lose some weight too. It won't make more power but it will help your times.

Tires will help the most. Nab some 15 inch v-6 wheels cheap and get some 26x 10.5 ET streets. Or if you dont want to switch back and forth BFG DR's (better hooking) or Nitto DRs (better street). This will run about $300 either which way.

Dropping some weight will help. yours is a vert, have you removed the fender weight? Remove the front sway bar for a few lb reduction and greatly improved weight transfer.

How does your tranny shift? In the few AOD cars Ive been in i hated them, both were "rebuilt, with a shift kit" and they both sucked IMO, if you floor it it would shift 1-2 at just over 4g and 2-3 way too quick. They had to do the shuffle thing which is rediculous to get it to shift where it should and most people say that is bad for the tranny. If your car hold each gear out till a little over 5000 you have a chance but otherwise I dont know.

Next to sticky tires next Up would be the performer intake as mentioned.

my question is why is nitrous out of the question. your lookin at like $300 for tires, yo u can get a used N2O kit for that much if not a little bit more. that will put u into the 13s if not the mid-low 13s. if u just don't like N2O thats fine.

I would reduce any and all weight. you can remove the seats if u want and all the before mentioned things. get some sticky tires, aftermarket intake, and/or alum. driveshaft(less parasitic lose).

A transbrake, e-brock intake, 4.10/4.30's, and ET streets "might" get you close. Weight is your biggest problem being that you have an AODE 'vert. I ran 13.8's at 98.5mph with e-brock intake, 65mm t-body, exhaust, pulleys, 3.73's, and nitto DR's in my 5 speed vert. You will need more and definitely some more tranny upgrades. You need to control at what rom the tranny shifts at too.

I would go for a nitrous kit. If you look around, you can find them new for around $400.00.

did you try lowering the psi in the rear tires and raisin the front ones just a smidgeon? That will help to lower your times on regular tires. And I know a lot of guys on this site will disagree cause it seems everyone here dismisses them as useless, but I'd consider a chip as well. I have a Jet chip in my stang and I can really tell the difference especially in the 3500 - 5000 rpm range.

I was thinking about a chip too,but i've heard you have to use high octane gas.I usually only buy high octane gas or octane boosters once a month.I don't know if I can keep buying the 93 octane gas at every fill up because the way gas prices are now days and because I only get about 17 mpg in the city.Would the chip be useless if I use the cheaper gas 87 octane?

As far as nitrous,I'm giving it some thought.

A chip may be a good idea for your auto. You could get the shift points fixed and whatever else those auto guys do to their trannys with a chip or twEECer. Something aobut boosting the pressure of the tranny or something

Look into a JMS chip and get your auto working how it should. Then go for the Edelbrock Performer.

sorry I waited until the thread was brought back from the dead, but if I remember correctly higher octanes are recommended with the use of a JET chip. I don't experiment myself, I only run 91 or higher octane.

EDIT: After reading my documentation, my JET Stage 1 chip requires at least 89 octane and recommends 91. The Stage 2 chip, which is pretty intense, requires at least 91.

Is there any chips out there that doesn't require 91 0ctane or higher.I'm looking for a chip that I can have using 87 octane(due to the gas prices).I use 91 or 93 octane once a month. Is there a chip out there that I can use 87 octane with?

I like ET Drags but ET streets would work too, Nitrous (cheap) and Lose weight, then lose some more, and lastly call the Jenny Craig, SlimFast, and Richard Simmons of Weight reduction for your car!!!

Oh and if I didn't mention it I would also suggest drop some weight from your car as well!

Since money is a significant issue, check the link in my signature on porting stock lower intakes. This can be done for ~$130. You need a better intake regardless of waht direction you go.
