What programmer to get for 4.6 2003 GT with some mods

Hi, I have a 2003 GT, with the MAC Straight Shot (95mm), SLP XPipe, SLP LOudmouth Catback, plus some other minor modification. I am looking to purchase a programmer to take me to the next level, and also get rid of my RUNNING LEAN ERROR because of the intake. I am looking at the DiabloSport Predator, HyperTech, and SNiper. ANy others? Any opinions of what I should get?

Hey go to Kenne Bell's site and look into a KB boost a pump. A lot of the leaning problems on gt's are due to the fact that your fuel pressure starts dropping drematically @ 32-3400rpm to only 35 lbs. This will cause leaning problems with the 4.6 at high r's possibly hurting your engine prematurely. Of coarse you will get lean errors too. It is a small price to pay to make sure you got the fuel you need to save the eng. Worked 4 me.. Have a nice day!

A lot of the leaning problems on gt's are due to the fact that your fuel pressure starts dropping drematically @ 32-3400rpm to only 35 lbs. This will cause leaning problems with the 4.6 at high r's possibly hurting your engine prematurely. Of coarse you will get lean errors too. It is a small price to pay to make sure you got the fuel you need to save the eng. Worked 4 me.. Have a nice day!

how hard is it to install?

If your mechanically inclined at least a little bit you can do it in about 20 min or so. Instructions are there. I would'nt be supprised if sooner. Good luck. Great investment. Then get a tuner, I use Diablo.

I chose the DiabloSport Predator because it lets you tweak stuff right there (doesn't require a laptop or PC); you get to read/clear OBD-II codes on 96+ Ford vehicles; and you can do datalogging of tons of stuff in the EEC. A great learning and tuning tool.

The SCT Xcalibrator has a very loyal fan base, but I'm guessing that's because of the 'SCT' brand name and the reputation of the SCT Pro Racer's Package. Search here and on other message boards about the Xcalibrator. It has been getting less than impressive reviews.

The Hypertech products I looked at had limited features so I scratched them off the list in the first round.

The Sniper is new on the market. I'm not one to spend money on something that new unless the company behind it has a strong history.

Edit: The Predator and Xcalibrator will let you adjust your a/f ratio to fix your leaning issue. It's best to get a dyno pull first to see where you are exactly.

The Predator and Xcalibrator will allow you to load a tune built by a professional tuner, so you have some growth there. I don't know about the Hypertech and Sniper tools.

I won't comment on Diablo for ease of use and such, but it seems they are having more problems with the new 05 Mustang and CAI for it than SCT is.

Do a seach and see who best fits your needs between either SCT and Diablo. Get either of those from a good dealer and you should be good to go.

Don't you think your 30 lb injectors are causing your drop in pressure? And why are you running 30 lb injectors anyway?

I use superchips and do notice a difference at the track with it. If I could do it over again I probably would have a Diablo.

I Would Recommend the Diablo because of all the features. I like the Traction Control being off and the whole problem with the O2 sensors and no cats is gone.
I took me about 15 min to install and that was with customizing a few things. Very easy to install but I’m sure all programmers are easy.

ModularDepot is a good source of info on the SCT PRP. I think it runs around $800.

You can also email your tune to an authorized dealer and have them create a custom tune for you. They'll email it back to you. But you'll need the PC Interface kit to upload and download tunes. It's not very expensive. About ~$32.00 from Radioshack . I've heard some good things about this guy RWTD.
