I have used stock OEM Ford quadrants cables. 5 stick cars in my life, not one of them had an issue. I've seen aftermarket peices that are aluminum snap the ears off where the cable hooks in. That was enought for me to keep the stock peices.
I'm gonna go with the fiore stuff. now how much is an oem cable from ford? do I have to do anything to the oem cable to make it work with the aftermarket firewall adjuster?
and where is this return spring that is mentioned? I installed my buddied MM quadrant and don't remember any spring Posted via Mobile Device

Yeah that can happen if the clutch fork and pivot ball are pitted, this will cause insane presure to be used to release the clutch and could break the quadrant..
FYI.. the stock ones strip the plastic teeth off when this happens.
Some people never run into issues with the stock one, but for me I find the stock one left to adjust on it's own does not allow for enough air gap for full throttle upshifts on many cars.. As the parts age this gets worse, Ford even had a TSB about the stock quadrant problems a few years ago.
I have manually adjusted the stock one on a few cars to my tastes, I like a high release point..
But a taller person with longer legs might want the release point lower, but be careful this lessens the air gap and in some cases leaves partial engagement at high rpm's

I would also like to know what this return spring is/does? IM getting about 1-1.5" of free play in my clutch pedal:-(, so im thinking that this is the cause as to why my pedal vibrates on deccel sometime between 1-2K RPMs. My setup is Blue Anodized FRPP firewall adjuster/ MM quadrant. The FRPP adjuster is nice! Id say same as fiore, cause it also has the locking 1/4 turn mechanism! PLus i got it for $37 from the local Ford Dealer. Drivetrain parts have less than 5k miles also, for those that might be thinking its my clutch causing the vibration. Parts were all installed by a mustang junky with the stock quadrant but I disliked the high engadgment on clutch so just recently upgraded to the above aftermarket goods
