I have 550 hp at the crank. im using a tremic tko 600 trans crome moly driveshaft. and a stock rear end.. i broke the rear axel at byron yesterday and now have to decide. if i should build the 8.8 up with a spool and 35 sline axles and try to reuse the 4.10 ring and pinion.. doin this would be alot less money.

my question is how strong is the 8.8 set up this way..

the other route is changin this to a 9" strange bolt in with a spool. pro gears and 35 spline axels.
doin the 8.8 is about 1200 bucks and the 9" setup would be 2,400 dollars

do you think i can use the 8.8 how much power are you guys puttin to the 8.8 does anyone have a setup like this

remember im puttin down power at the track with street et very sticky there will be no wheel spin. im lookin to pull the front wheels up

im goin to be puttin nos on this engine with another 200+ hp shot

someone tell me how tough these 8.8 are and what your doin with yours

Guys have run in the 7's and 8's with a good 8.8 rear.
Me personally i see no use for a 9 inch rear.

For most situations a 31 spline moser or strange axle setup will do.

If you drive on the street, the spool sucks.
Me personally, i like the eaton unit, although my auburn has always been trouble free, i'm not sure how it holds up to 500rwhp. So i'd opt for the eaton.

I'd probably do C clip eliminators and have the axles tubes welded.

im gonna try to go 35 spline if i can in the 8.8. the stock rear end didnt make it off the line snapped as soon as i dropped the clucth at 5500 rpm car didnt move its got tons of power tryin to run 10.50

How much power are you puttin down i need somthin that is gonna hold. im gonna spool it.. i dont drive it on the strret much its for racin now
