What Should Be My First Mod?

You should get the mac straight shot c.a.i.Ive heard they add up to 15 hsp.You can get one with a bigger maf also that would add more hp.Also go with some 4.10 gears. Then a trick flow upper plenum with a 75 mm tb.The plenum and tb gave my freind greg 22 horses to the wheels!!Then go with a catted x-pipe if you want to pass emissions, and put some 40 series flows on there. You will love the sound!!

Lotsa killer info, guys, I really appreciate it!

And no, I have not raced a Lightning, but my "autos are for chumps" comment was geared (pardon the pun) towards 'Stang drivers...

Looks like a consensus for the shifter and 4.10 gears before the exhaust system. Am I right? Any particular reason(s) for this? Won't the gears decrease my mpg? (With today's gas prices, cost is a factor here...)

Because of all the mods I've done, the gears seem to be the most impressive...by far.

Mine went from 22 to 18, but this was with a whole lot of stuck-in-traffic driving... now that my driving is back to more normal highway driving, it appears that current mileage is going to be closer to 20-22. And as for being a chump, I'd felt like a chump with a dead arm and leg if I would have clutched my way through 40 miles of 5-10mph stop-and-go traffic a few days ago. I'm not opposed to manual transmissions completely, but if I'm going to give up my automatic...I'll make dang sure that I'm driving at least a SVT Cobra - just hope I don't feel like a "chump" if an automatic Corvette blows past me. :)

With an avatar like yours, Buff, there's no POSSIBLE way that I could ever consider you a chump... :nice:

Cotton: If I decided not to do the gears yet, would you still go with the shifter?

V: I live in Buckhead... Where is the dyno gonna be? And while we're at it, I have bald-ass GY Eagle 245/45s, they were good while they had tread, but what tires are YOU gonna get?

Get the shifter regardless of other mods. :nice:

I'm partial to the pro5.0, but the triax is a great shifter too.Really a matter of preference.

As far as the gears go, gas mileage isn't that big of a factor. You drive a performance car, not a hybrid.I still get 24mpg on the hwy with my 4.10s.
It is definitely worth a few mpg for the difference in the way the car drives.

It will be in Alpharetta: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=480185

My tires are bald as **** too. It's fun to slide around when it's clear out, but I won't even go near my car in the rain.

I'll be getting Kumho Ecsta 711's for something like $75 each from TireRack. Installation up here is like $78 for all four. So a solid $390 + shipping from tirerack is not TOO bad.
