What should I ask for my car?

Well, I am selling my slow-ass V6 auto....FINALLY. I had worked out a deal with someone but the deal fell threw about an hour before it was to be picked up. Needless to say, I was pissed. Anyways, I'm going to try it again.

There's a girl I "know" who is dead serious about the car. She says that her boyfriend is looking for one like it and wants mine (so she says). I don't really know how much to ask. I was thinking $11K. Blue book on it is $9400.

2001 Oxford White Mustang Coupe
3.8L V6
Auto overdrive
54,500 miles

Mods:
-MAC CAI
-K&N
-custom true dual exhaust w/ 40 series Flows
-Mach 1 chin spoiler
-Mach 1 grill delete
-CDC quadlamps
-custom painted front end (flat black on insides of lower intake area)
-GT hood scoop
-Y2K 18" silver Cobra R's with Ventus performance tires (245/275)
-Saleen sidescoops
-GT rear bumper
-custom painted rear bumper (indentation @ bottom painted flat black)
-99/01 Cobra rear taillights
-FRPP C-spring lowering springs
-Saleen leather seats
-MAC white face gauges
-Pioneer audio (headunit)
-custom leather shifter (looks like a manual)
-Cobra floor mats
-Mach 1 interior trim peices (center/shifter/gauge bezels)
-custom painted calipers

The car has had all fluids changed ever 3K miles (documented) @ Ford dealer. All recommended maintenence performed and documented.(brakes, tranny, engine belts, fuel system, driveline, etc.). All body mods were professionally painted and installed. Lowering springs professionally installed and aligned. Tires are brand new. Car has been washed atleast once a week with wax. Looks like it just drove off the lot. No creases in seats, upholstery is in perfect condition. Armor-All Protectant and Shine applied to interior weekly. I even wash the undercairage and engine bay weekly.

So, does all that warrant about $1500 over blue book? Like I said, i was thinking $11K

the mods dont mean crap, your $ 9500 figure is retail not private party..if she knows any better she wont buy it...sorry mang...mods dont get extra money out there thats the downside to modding

:stupid:

The book prices on used cars have been worthless for the last two years with all of the rebates and deals on the new cars. Why would anyone pay $11,000 for a high mileage 2001 when you can buy a brand new 2004 (6 cyl)for less than $14,000?

Hmmm, interesting. Such animosity for V6 mustangs. Go on to kbb.com, enter 2001 mustang V6 auto w/ 54K miles in PRIVATE PARTY value and see what you get. I know mods don't increase value, but I've dumped atleast 7K into this POS and I can't even get $1500 out of it?

Of course it's all show no go....its a freakin' V6!

Sorry bud, they are all right I was just trying to sell a GT with 6000 in mods and barely got KBB and that was a 2003 and a GT, more desirable then a V6. Part the mods and get what you can for em. Then sell the car for book if you are lucky enough to get that.

Well, the car has some major strikes against it...some your doing and some not. Keep in mind, you can pickup a new GT for 18K and get low financing rates. Someone else already pointed out the price of a new V-6. Dealers can also offer "assistance" to a potential buyer. Let's face it, most of the folks looking at your car are probably younger, with lower paying jobs, and rough credit. A dealer can offer services that you can't in regards to financing.

The car is also "over" modified. If you were to trade this car in at my uncles new car dealership (he owns 12), he would probably give you $5500 for it and send it right to a wholesale auction. The car has much too limited of appeal. he could never sell it.

The only way you will get what you want is if you find a buyer that is completely in love with the car and knows that he/she can find one for $8000, but places a value on your mods and sees the mods as something that they would do anyway and, as a result, would be willing to drop $11k.

Mods are a ****ty investment anyway you look at it. This is why the only mods that I do are ones that can be reversed and I always keep the original parts. If I were you, and you can't sell it, take off the mods that you can and sell separately.

To those of "make fun" of the unmighty V-6, this car has almost as much hp as a 5.0 and offers an alternative for folks who can't pay the insurance on a GT.

Alright, excuse me while I go run off and cry now. I was hoping atleast $10K maybe. Damn. Lets see what this chick does. :(

I can't really part it out because the only original part I have are the tailights! :rlaugh:

damn Brandon, good luck selling the car. you shooda sold it to a Frontchi here or something :p

If you spend 3 months advertising the car, you might find a buyer @ 9500-10200. Advertise at 10500 and say "will negotiate". You will get plenty of people to talk to you, with like 8000-8500 in their minds, but you show them the car and hope they pay more.

Real value though, if you had to sell that car in a week, 7500-8000.... Right everyone?
