What size front calipers?

I have the SSBC 4 lug rear disc conversion(basically turbocoupe) sitting in my room, it has a 1" bore master cylinder + prop valve, the works. When I install this I was thinking about upgrading the front calipers to 73mm units. Is this pointless? There are so many threads that discuss this but its mostly ppl asking if they have to change the M/C or if they can use it with rear drums ect. Will there be any performance or better feel or any advantage to be gained at all?

I would like to know whats better in MY particular situation as noted above.

It's not hard to overheat the stock rotors with the stock calipers. I would think changing to larger calipers with stock rotors would only make this worse!

Try it. The 73mm calipers are dirt cheap. It may work fine with the 1" bore.

But like mentioned, the stock front rotors are really the weak link in the Fox brake. The design doesn't lead to good cooling.

I have a very similar setup in my car. I used the stock master cylinder, gutted the prop valve and installed a prop valve for the rear. You will need to install a larger power booster though. FRPP M-2005-K is the booster you want. slight messaging of the L/F shock tower is necessary because it's bigger. I use carbon pads and my eye balls pop out now.

I think im going to stick with the 60MM calipers, as I have never had a problem locking my front tires up with them.

So that being said, my brake setup will be the same that came on the 93 cobras minus the booster, right?

Yes technically, although the 93 cobra has different front rotors with a taller offset to match the 0.75" increase each side in the rear.

Just something to keep in mind if you ever want to change rims and want the offsets to match front and rear...or want to run OEM '93 Cobra wheels

I dont want the same track width as the cobra as I already have 4 lug rims/new tires that im happy with, I was just making sure that aside from that and the booster the brake system will be the same. OBV. Ford didnt put the 73mm on the cobra for a reason, as I have come to the conclusion that its pointless.

BTW if anyone knows, why did they use a different booster on the cobras?
