What size tires for my cobra-R rims

I'm picking up some cobra r rims from my buddy! The tires are 17 inches 9 inch wide. I'd like to use my stock goodyears (245 45 17) up front. Is this OK?
Also Whats the widest tire I can put out back. The will be getting a 1.5 inch drop to if that matters.....

I know that you can put a 315 nitto d/r's on a 9" rim, don't know about rubbing issues. The nitto's run quite a bit narrower than others. The 245's would look skinny, but you can do it,no problem. 255-275 are optimal for 9" See what 315's look like on thread in svt. pic.s of 315's on 17x9
