I am ready to take it to the next level and add a supercharger or turbo. I wanted to do the junkyard turbo but it is to much of a PITA on a SN95.

What is the cheapest supercharger/turbo for 94-95?

I know they have limits with the hyper pistons as well. How much boost can I get away with safely?(I hear 5 pounds)

Hyperutectics can handle plenty of boost. They just can't take detonation. Your tune needs to be spot on.

As far as SC vs TC, I prefer turbos, but the aftermarket is plentiful for SC's for our cars. Turbos are less plentiful, but out there.

For detailed turbo info, check out Turbo Mustangs

I saw a ford racing FRPP Supercharger 6# satin (M-6066-B50) for the 94-95 but it says it can not be used on the convertible. None of the other brands say NOT for a convertible.

Whats the difference between a vert and a hardtop up front?

Off of the top of my head, I have no idea why the verts would be limited.

Honestly, the FRPP unit is just a Powerdyne unit. I'd go talk to Vortech or Procharger if you're looking at going the supercharger route.

nothing?

didn't the vortech supers just get cheaper... there are a few threads on that.

I was doing research on turbos, during my summer internship, at turbomustang.com and they've got GREAT info. but, it's not like our cars are bad for jjt, it's just that jjt are HARD to do in the first place... unless you you've got ur **** down like some of those guys, then they seem like the only way to go--- seems like sn95s have a lot of room once you relocate the battery, ps and ac delete, but some of those guys were running around with ps and ac.. just gotta read and know your stuff

imho, it seems supers are just easier all around and will give u some awesome power!

Go with what you can afford.

Expect a wait time of aprox 3months for a turbo kit... or wait aprox 3days for a UPS truck to come to your house to drop off a S/Cer kit.

Which one do I personally like?

Turbochargers.

But that doesnt explain why my 97 Cobra sports a Vortech, does it?

LOL

OK, I do all my work myself and dont want to granade me engine when I fire up the car for the first tme.

The Vortechs do look like the best bargin for the money. I saw new ones on ebay for 87-93's for $1600 new.

There was a 94-95 Vortech charger on ebay for $2400 new that comes with a FMU, fuel pump, vortech chip and BTM(whats a BTM).

I guess I am worried about the whole pinging thing.

Should I drop the timing way way down when I first start the car and then start bumping it up?

If I ping under boost is that a lot worse then pinging without?

Last one, If I stay around 5 PSI do I need bigger injectors?

Thanks for any help...

You cant grenade anyting when just starting the car with a blower/turbo on it.

She needs load, such as reving the piss out of her, or driving HARD.

Boost doesnt come on as gradual as you may think.

You will need at LEAST 24lbers with the FMU to be safe, as well as a 255lph pump in the tank.

Ping under boost... that is like kissing her goodbye because you probably just popped a gasket during the ping.

Basically... turn timing down to 8*'s, Fuel pressure to 40psi with vaccume off, and just make sure your MAF is plugged in and fuel pump is humming.

You should be safe for the time being before strapping the car on the dyno for a wideband tune.

To let you know, I just ordered my Vortech V2SQ complete supercharger kit from superchargers4less for $2292 plus $100 for shipping. If you order by the end of this month, you get a $100 rebate from Vortech which basically pays for the shipping. $2300 is a great deal for a brand new complete kit!! I am going to put the kit on with 255lph intake and 42lbs injectors and ditch the FMU

WhiteSN95, how much power do you expect to get out of adding the supercharger?

I am mostly stock except for exhaust, pullies and gears(oh yeah, my new gauges, they must give me a few more HP:-)

The Vortech V2SQ claims 104 added HP. What should I realy expect with my meger add-ons?

I hear there is a guy around with a Brand New ProCharger D1-SC kit for sale... :D

However that unit is a pretty powerful setup but it has had pulley size changed when it was ordered to only produce 10psi. It also comes with an intercooler, battery relocation kit fmu etc etc.

If you aren't set on that aggresive of a unit you still should make a check on getting an intercooler regardless. Also, I know I will probably get a few flames on this comment but just trying to make you aware. Don't expect a whole lot power out of the average 6psi street unit.

by the way the guy selling that unit is going Turbo when the kit is sold. :D

I am going to install it with the Anderson Power pipe, do the fox throttle body conversion to help the airlflow as well as put in an FTI cam. i am looking to make around 10#'s of boost and will adjust the pulleys if i have to make this amount of boost. I am expecting about 100 horse out of this. The anderson power pipe as well as the cam and the fox throttle body conversion will help add a few pounds of boost to the stock kit. I orginally wanted to go with ATI procharger but could not turn down the deal on the Vortechs
