What the hell?!

That sebring might have been supercharged. It's a slow car but when they put a blower on them (yes they make um) that'l put them ahead of your car. Our year 5.0 is the most de-tuned you can get with crimped headers, smog crap, 4 count'em cats, heavy and the stock auto sucks to boot. Plus your gears probably suck. Put those gears in and open up thgat engine to breathe and see what happens.

you know what, run whatever gas you want.i have never heard of higher octane hurting the performance.wtf is that?when you go to the track you dont put cheap gas in it.and i thought the factory timing was 10 degrees, why would he want to back it off to 6-8 degrees just to run 87 octane?makes no sense to me.but i do question your desire to race a sebring?i mean its a sebring for gods sake.

I said run 6-8 for nitrous. These cars were tuned for 87 octane gas and just becuase you have never heard of a higher octane hurting performance dosent mean it's not true. Having a higher octane causes the fuel to burn a little bit slower your trying to get the biggest bang out of the engine when it fires why would you want a slower burn? A car with a higher compression or a power adder can bennifet from a higher octane when it's needed for performance to keep detination down due to the higher chamber pressures.

Why did I ever buy my 95 5.0 :nonono:

Maybe I just haven't tuned it enough.. Doesn't our stock computer tune timing automatically for us? Can I just do it with a timing gun or do I have to buy an MSD unit?

And on another note.. who got beat by a taurus? I hope it was a cli-taurus ;)

toluene cocktails are cheaper than high octane (it is something I have been meaning to try [esp on one of the bikes] but have not).

For those of you who do not already know, octane is a measurement of how well the atomized fuel resists detonation. The higher the octane, the more resistance to detonation caused by carbon deposits and higher than normal combustion chamber temperatures, which can cause pinging or detonation. A higher octane fuel used unecessarily can have the same effect as a small amount of timing retard.

lol, i was joking about opening it up.

Anyway.. Any cheap ways to make my engine run a bit faster? I've been thinking about putting the nitrous kit in but with 126k on the engine it doesn't seem like a good idea.

You can get an intake. I got my cobra intake used for $200, and it already had a port job. That will really wake it up, and it won't have any negative side effects on your engine, other than you may be in the throttle a lot more cus it will be a lot more fun.

Quit worrying about the nos blowing your engine. You could even blow a brand new engine if you don't use it wisely. A friend of mine added nos to his 94 stang with over 180,000 miles on it and not once did it crap out. Oh, and this guy would go through a bottle in a week. And still had it running well over 190k before he sold it.

maybe, but honestly even if it was supercharged, your still dealing with a frontwheel drive slushbox.....even with a supercharger it might make it run high 15's,mid 15's at best......even an auto vert should be able to handle even a modded sebring......a low boost supercharger on a front wheel drive car such as a sebring honestly isn't going to suddenly make it a fast car...

Give your car a tune up. You said the guy before you didn't take care of it and that your worried about blowing the motor. It sounds to me like your car is running like ass, especially since you got owned by a sebring (Which is not good BTW).

Not flaming here, but I don't see why people (Not necessarily you, but in general) mod thier cars before the basics are taken care of. It doesn't make sense to me. What good is a h-pipe and a stall converter if your having internal motor problems?
