Nitto 315 555r drags on the back and Nitto 275 555R2's on the front. I need something to keep this car on the road.

I've been reading that the 555 are not so good in the rain. Really bad on cornering. any one?

Hankook Ventus HRII H405's. Quiet and smooth, good wear, traction and price

Khumo 712's @ $88.00 a piece I couldn't turn them down...my evaluation: decent overall traction, stable at high speed, and decent wear for the money. If your looking for a low profile tire to have traction in rain/snow...forget it. I paid a crap load of money for Dunlops because of the W rating and my Khumo's are much better in all aspects. I would say a happy medium would be the NITTOs...only one way to find out.

great for cornering but lousy in the rain. If it's raining hard I am doing 55mph max or I start to hydroplane.

This is with the 555R's and 555RII's I don't know how the regular 555's are.

I have BFG g-force T/A KD 265/35/18 on the front and BFG G-force T/A Drag Radials 295/35/18 on the back for maximun traction on the track. The drag radials last about 3000 miles or less, but my stang sees 2000+ or so during the year....and they are super sticky!

Pirelli P7000
They grip like a mutha on dry pavement and in the rain.
I have to get on it pretty good to make it get squirlly in the rain.
But for 225$ a piece they should.

all these guys named very good tires for the price. It all depends on your budget and what you want out of them. Yes, the nitto's tend to slip in cold and wet weather. Other than that they are a very good tire. My next tire is going to be Hankook Ventus up front and nitto DR's in the rear.

265/35-18 and 295/35-18 Yokohama AVS Sport. Responsive and grippy

315/13-17 BFG Comp T/A Drag Radial for the track. Probably the most grip you're going to get out of a 17" tire.

275/40/17 all 4 corners Sumo HRZ(?) II's . Outstanding in the dry, great in the rain, hooks decently at the track (2.1-2.0 60's), cool tread pattern, and very well priced.

i have cheap khumo 711's 255/45/17s right now(78 each) they appear to actually be more towards a 245 size though. they suck at the track only 2.0s, but i go through tires so quickly i'd rather give up a little in my 60' when on street tires.

i had 255/45/17 sumitomo htrzII's before, very wide for the size, more like a 265 in reality, hooked decent at the track, i pulled consistent mid 1.9s on them great in the rain.

I love my Nitto 555's compared to my old Kumho 712's. The 555's are excellent all the way around tire for my needs. Excellent in rain, and perfect for me in dry. BTW, they are the stock 245 45 17s. good luck!

255/40/17 Kumho Ecsta MX. Awesome tread design and cheap too. A little stickier than Nittos imo.

I am running 275/35/18 F and 295/35/18 R Toyo T1-S's and I love them. They tracked a little at first, but now that they are broken in the are great. Ride well, handle awesome and good in the rain. I am very happy with my purchase.
