what to do with $3500

I am happy with my thumper combo, I am making 360rwhp and 400 trq to the wheels with my combo. Don't bother with the stock intake, do an aftermarket one, a few other mods and some gears you can have a excellent running car.



You 5 speed or auto?

nice, and my car is 5 speed. Im planning on getting a nice 6 speed (tremec t56) in the FAR future lol. either that or gforce t5. bith are super expensive. so thats not in my plans anytime soon.
 
im 16 too. let em hate.

if i were you. if you want some power go with a S-trim. do a mild and on the cheap H/C/I Explorer combo with a decent cam. and a S-trim. thats what i would do anyway.. but hey what do we know. were only 16 :shrug:
 
A pair of any alum heads painted will apear stock...you want sleeper then you sacrafice power. Stock intake is VERY limiting for a good set of heads..even ported IMO and any decent cam will kill the sleeper theme, but yet again the correct cam will be limited by the flow/power curve of the heads and intake you choose. Thumper combo's are usually 250's untuned...decent but if you have the funds step up to a better head, custom cam, RPM intake and if you have any $ left over have Tmoss work the intake and heads.

Trust me I make 320 to the tire and even that (though not much) gets boring REALLY fast. Not to mention there are alot of additional expenses included with head/intake/cam swaps.

Now one more point....I can't think of any advantage of .030 on a 306 CI engine, it just comprimises the integirty of the engine for absolutely no meaningfull power gain. Remeber 302 to 306 is usually a 5 or less HP gain.....stroker motors are not 'bored' over motors as people love to associate the two.
 
damn, so in that case, thumper is out of the question. i ant aluminum heads for sure, i could paint them that cast iron color. I would love to go for some AFR's. probably the 185's. and get a pretty good intake to go along with it. possibly a trickflow one. Idk yet. i have so many options. I just want to get everything in order and on a list.

But as for thumper, from what you guys tell me, its no biggie.

btw, :OT:but if i keep the 19 lb injectors, but with all this work, will i waste ALOT more gas or just a bit more? cuz i know that it can only waste so much due to the fact that its 19 lbers.

i i were you i would step up injectors. i think up top it will scatter and run like crap after an H/C/I

If I were you I'd get some AFR heads, the 165's are better suited for a n/a 302.

with the mods and goals you are talking about you can throw gas mileage out the window. if you want to keep getting semi decent mileage keep it as close to stock as possible.
the 19lb injectors are good to about 300-320hp. you wont use more gas you will just go lean and your motor will start to choke like ryan said. you can actually damage things if you run it too long like that.
 
I would suggest doing some research. Some people including myself have thrown some good idea's out there.

However, when it comes down to it, $3500 is a good chunk of change and you're depending on completely stranger's to help you invest money into your car. Do some research, think it over for awhile, and you'll have your plan set, trust me. Good luck, and whatever you decide, document the process, and take as many pictures as you can.
