i am looking to buy some aluminum heads for the stang...

what specs are the most important? (intake runner volume, combustion chamber size, intake/exhaust valve sizes, rocker mount type....)

what specs would best benefit me?

thanks you guys are my heros!!! :flag:

they are cast iron....they weigh about 10038238424 lbs, they have been machined 2 times (that i know of) the deck is pretty thin (thinner than the e7's i believe) and i think the decks keep flexing and my gaskets keep leaking....

plus i just picked up a $20 an hour job so i figured i should put some of that cash into the stang... :D

All of them come into play when comparing flow numbers to stock heads or what you currently have. Valve size is important because besides flow it determines if the pistons have to be notched. The combustion size is part of the formula to determine c/r. If its an N/A car you might want to use say 58cc more compression but if its a s/c car u might want to use 61cc or 64cc to lower c/r. rocker mount style will determine if you have to replace your current rockers or not. Stud is supposed to be better than pedestal (stronger mount and easier to adjust).

Well lets see Mike

Aluminum heads will be way more shiny than iron heads ... sorry, its the first thing that popped out of my warped head.

Since your blown, the effeciency is not as important as if you were NA.

Some things that may be good considering you are blown is a bit larger chamber to keep the compression down.

A thick deck is good to help with blown gaskets but from what I've seen, I think most Aluminum heads will have that issue covered.

As for rocker type, I always go for stud mount over ped's due to strength and flexability of adjustment. They will cost a bit more but they are worth it IMHO.

Not too long ago, you could find IIRC, GT40 Aluminum take off heads with a very reasonable price.

werd, i feel you. in that case, i would go with Edelbrock victor Jr. :flag:

the intake runners are the square openings on the lower intake side of the head correct?
i know what the combustion chamber is and i see that i need a larger one than smaller for CR reasons
what size valves should i go with?

anyone have pictures of pedistal vs stud mount rockers? what kind are stock on the cobra?

thanks guys

Yes

Again, since you are blown, the difference in valve size is not gonna matter as much as if you were NA. The bigger the better if talking about max power I guess would be a rule of thumb.

I've got some pics of my Scorpion stud rr's on my site.

what kind are stock on the cobra?

Peds ... all iron oem Ford heads are setup for peds
