What to plug back of heads with after smog removal?

As topic states what did you use to plug the holes in the back of the heads when you removed your smog pumps, what size bolt is it, thanks

trick flow sells thermactor plugs for this for i think 3 bucks a piece.im not surewhat size bolt would fit though,someone will chime in for ya if you dont want to buy them from tfs.

If you are positive that you won't be using the air tube anymore ( i hear they are like 200 bucks frm Ford) just take a hacksaw, cut the blocks off the ends flip them over (and if i remember swap sides. this way the holes are covered) and screw them back on. I used some high temp gasket sealer as well. No issues whatsoever. Yeah, I know it's a "jerry-rig", but nobody can see it and it works so there!! Haaaa Good luck.

That's what I did. Took all of 5 minutes. Heck I even painted mine.

Take a 3/4" pipe thread cap and screw it onto the pipe heading into the heads. It takes all of 2 minutes.

9/16" size bolts - 1/2" long or longer with some washers and they are not at HD or Lowes. Had to order them on-line.

i cut the air tube and flipped it like was stated above.

They are 9/16 coarse thread. Just get a short bolt and some thread sealer.

I think you will have to thread those hole in order to plug them. It might work, but on mine they were so corroded and messed up i couldn't tell if they had threads or not. I just cut apart the air injecton tubes and shut the holes and then put them back on with a bit of formagasket on there.

If the threads are nasty, just get a 9/16 NC tap or rethreader and clean the threads..... The threads are there, no need to create threads. Just clean them.

Some carb cleaner might do the trick too. Get an inspection mirror and check it out.

all i did was take the stock bolts from the tubes and then cut 2 pieces of 12ga. sheetmetal from work the same size and pattern of the tube ends drilled a hole and thats it works awsome! peace

i did the same thing. got some bolts and threaded them in.

alot cleaner with out those damn tubes in the way.

Man, apparently there are alot of different ways to do it. I've heard sparkplugs work. Also, I've heard of people putting pennies in there to block the holes off.

I have seen this done, take a stock sparkplug and break all the ceramic off of it and the tip. It will screw right into the holes. I thought it was a bit cheesy, but hey, it worked. LOL Just some food for thought.
