What to use...FMS "B" Cam or "E" Cam ???

There is nothing wrong with the e or b cam. For a mild H/I/C setup it will be just fine. No doubt a custom cam is the alpha and omega of performance cams but largely unnecessary for his setup considering his budget upgrades. The E cam is fine for a street car with a little lope and good driving characteristics. I personally would recommend taking a look at the TFS stage 1. I have had both(currently running the E to comply with CARB in CA) and the TFS is a better cam and can be had for less money. Good luck with your upgrade.

Theres better OTS cams available than those old outdated B and E cams.
In the 5.0L Dyno Test book,Richard Holdener says the time for the B cam has come and gone.

I wouldn`t use either one these days.

The B cam was the very first performance roller cam for the 5.0L I believe.Maybe this is why it`s still kind of popular:shrug:.

I have used both on a few different cars and I personally like the E-cam. The B-cam just doesn't seem to start pulling till later in the RPM band compared to the E-cam. I will add that I have always installed them straight up so it may work better with some advance. Didnt have problems with either one dying at lights or anything goofy like that. Neither one will sound stock by any means but the B definately has a lumpier idle than the E. Now that that is out of the way, if I hax X amount of dollars to spend on any cam in that price range, I would probably give the TFS stage 1 a shot. Have heard nothing but good things about it but I have also never had a chance to try one myself because I always seem to happen across brother-in-law deals on alphabet cams and I imagine thats where you are at as well.

I'm running an E cam with 1.7s. It was a little lazy on the bottom end so on the advise of "Thumper" I advanced it 4 degrees. Wow! what a differance it made. I know a lot of guys advance the B-cam as well even though it had a 5 degree advance ground into it. Advancing it would put the ICL around 103. I'd say use what you got and see if you like it. If the Ecam is real cheap buy it anyway as a back up and sell it if you end up happy with the B. cam.

Then again what do I know. If I belived everything I read my car should just be throw away with all its "junk" parts. :)
