What tranny behind 2.3 N/A

I've got the opportunity to buy an 89 LX with 46k on the car, but the tranny is slipping. I've got a brand new AOD in my garage. Will the AOD work behind the 2.3? Any help is greatly appreciated.

The AOD is for the 5.0 which won't fit on the 2.3 properly. The imput shaft is different, possibly the gears inside the AOD will have different ratios also since its for a V8. You would be better off getting a T5 for a 2.3 and switching it over to 5 speed. If you just wanna keep the automatic, I'm sure you can sell the AOD and get a AL4D plus a little extra cash in your pocket.

I have a working A4LD if you want it.....but I would swap to a T5 if I were you. The n/a 2.3 needs all the help it can get.

i too am picking up a working A4LD, if you'd like, name a price, i must sell this transmission. it has around 100K miles on it, but from what i understand it runs perfectly.

hey 5spd is the best way to go i have a a4ld now and its a slug behind the poor 2.3 n/a just think of it this way (horse with severe asthma) he he he GET A FIVE SPEED (and a 2.3t)
