what will it run?

I'm buying a 306 bored .30 over with trw forged pistons, forged scat rods, trick flow twisted wedge heads, comp cam with almost the same specs as an e303, gt40 upper and lower intake, 24 lb injectors, bbk headers. where about do yall think this motor will put me in the eigth? as well as hp and torque. getting this motor for 1,200 dollars.

I'd say you should run anywhere between a 8.20 to 8.90 depending largely on tires, suspension, weight, gears, and driver error. What kind of trans and suspension are you workin with and I could tell you better.

EDIT: Oh and as far as hp goes I would say you prolly have around a 285-300 hp engine

What car, tranny, suspension, tires etc? My coupe 5 speed on mickey thompson drag radials ran 8.13 with twisted wedge heads, better intake and stage 1 cam, still has a little left in her tho. Might be able to see 7.9s with a light car and good drivin! Will def. be fun tho!
Matt

93 gt. right now its the stock aod, 3.55 gears and some bald street tires haha. but mickey tompsons drag radials are in the near future along with ford racing springs and control arms. the cars already got subframe connectors and torque box reinforcements. ill be taking it to dorchester.

With that being said, I would say right now you are lookin at around a 8.90 to 9.00. The tires, suspension, and aod are gonna kill ya. Once you get some tires, suspension and the aod went through, I'd say you'd be lookin at low 8's all day. :nice:

Yeah, ide say 8.7s-9.0s depending on your 60fts. AODs arent very nice to bolt on or HCI 5.0s it seems, especially if they are tired.

yea ive been waiting on a good deal on a 5-speed to come around. i hope the aod lasts me long enough to find one. ive only had the car a month now so theres quite a few things id like to do. cant pass up the deal on that motor though.

I don't think that's a high 7's motor at all.

See below

Really?

I have been 7.9 a few times with E7s, stock cam, cobra intake and even done so with 17" and 18" wheels and tires...

To each his own I guess, I just figure a TFS headed 306 with a cam and intake "should" be a high 7 second motor in the 1/8th.

:nice:

I think high 7's is a good guesstimate IMO

We'll never know till we see a time slip. Just from my personal experence I don't think its a high seven motor. The only thing that might would get him there is the heads. Other than that my personal opinion is 8.20 on a good hookin car. I'd rather be wrong and it be a 7 second car though really. I'd much rather it be an ls1 fighter than a ls1 victim. :nice:

Its funny you say that Hambo cause an ls1 is what is replacing it in the car that it came out of. My buddy has the ls1 in his fox now and suposed to have it running today or tomorrow. He ran an 8.4 with the 306 in his car with a messed up carb. I will be swapping it to fuel injected when it goes in. Suposed to be going in my car next weekend so maybe i will be able to take it to the track next sunday to see what it will run.

I'm pretty sure the OP mentioned TFS Twisted Wedge Heads in his first post? You are saying these heads would hold him back from a high 7? Remind me never to buy a TFS head, if it would go slower than my E7s!

:D

I'd say you'll have about 275rwhp with the stock AOD and run low 8's if you can hook up properly (mid/high 12's to the 1/4). The wild card will be how well your AOD can shift.
