what will it take to beat my buddys 94 corba

we have had a good sported rivley between the two of us for sometime but he is always one step ahead of me. i'm getting a 5.0 fox body and should have 7-10g's to spend on up building it up. some of the money will go to paint and rims but most will go to power.

here is his set up: 94 corba with all the bolt ons (chip, cold air,t.b.,mass air, bbk shorty headers, alum drive shaft, off road h pipe, flows, short throw, and 3.73 gears) he also will have the holley heads and a custom cam soon.

what kind of power do you think he is making? and what will it take to get my 5.0 fox gt to beat him. i'm thinking a 347 or 306 with turbo.

Wood 79- What will be the condition of the fox body? If all of that 7-10 grand is going to fixing up an already decent fox body 5.0 you should have no problem beating your buddy's cobra in a 1/4 mile(You didnt specify how you wanted to beat him so I am assuming like most people you are going for acceleration). Simply apply supercharger or nos or both and spend a grand or two on strenghtening the rear end. You still have a little money for wheels/ttires.
As for the power he is making I am only guessing 310-340?

if you have the money you can go one of 10,000 ways,
but lets try and keep it simple.

1. Nitrous to stock or moddifyed motor 230-300hp all the time,and up too 150hp shot when needed.

2. New motor built N/A, 375-400 hp all the time.

3. super/turbo charged 450+ hp.

any of the 3 will beat him.

I like strokers. If I was in your shoes, I would say 331,347,393 or 408. Then let him try to catch you.

BTW no matter what you do. You need to spend some money on suspension.
Hopefully you can do most of the bolt on work yourself to save some money.

If you spray it, he will eventually say you cant beat me without juice. Then if he puts a little spray on his car, you are back to seing taillights.
