If you had an auto 03 gt with 50k PAID OFF, would you mod it ie s/c or would you trade it in and buy a mach with the extra cash you would be saving from not buying the blower. Id like to hear your opinions. Never even driven in a mach before to be honest so im curious would it be worth the upgrade or more fun to drive in a blown gt. Say my car is worth, 12? Could I get a good mach with low miles for the cost of a blower/install so say 16 17?

i say do the mach, dont bother supercharging the 2v if you have any doubt about it, u will dump your money and not be satisfied. go get the mach, drive it and sc that in the future if need be.

I'd mod up the GT - the Machs are awesome, don't get me wrong - but if youre just going for bang-for-the-buck, think about this: the extra 5 grand you'll spend on the Mach gets you what? roughly 60 more horsepower, a chin spoiler, hood scoop and gauges, while that 5 grand thrown into the GT could produce a reliable 380rwhp monster (if you find some good deals, do some of the work yourself, etc...)

My opinion on cars has always been to go for what you want RIGHT NOW - you never know when some jack*ss in a Silverado is going to back out in front of you and ruin all your future plans - so if big hp is what youre after, stick w/ the GT :nice:

When you go to sell it someday you will have more resale value than a Frankenstien GT.

Whats the point in basing this decision off of resale value in the future?? Buy the car you want and do what you have to do to enjoy it while you have it - IMO, the people who buy cars to let them sit in their garage or don't mod them because it might hurt the resale value are just missing out on a helluva lot of fun...

I agree. A Mustang is the wrong car to buy to sell.

Thanks all for all your input. I think just the experience alone of owning a blown gt would be crazy. Love love the mach too. Dont know what it is about it. I know its just a different hoot, spoiler, 4v etc but theres something about it though just looks sweet. hmm tough decision. Don't have an extra 5k laying around now, but after saving up for while probably next spring I will. Ill have some time to consider it.

Do up your GT. I just got my 04, and I started kicking myself for not hunting down a Mach, but for the extra money I'd spend on a mach, this time next year my GT will be in the 380 RWHP neighborhood, and it'll be handling like a champ. I'll take a worked up GT over a stock Mach any day, because if you get the Mach, you're just gonna mod the hell out of it over time anyway. The only thing I'd really prefer is the 4v motor, but I'll still pass a Mach with ease when my GT is done.

If I was in your spot, I'd buy a manual car.

Assuming you like auto and you'd go with auto either way, it's a tough choice. I think I'd go with the Mach unless you have a lot of mods or sentimental value in the GT. I wouldn't trade my car for a Mach 1, though a terminator would be a different story.

I would definitely keep the GT and build it up. Your GT with a built automatic trans will school a car with a manual any day. (Given that they have the same specs) And the fact that your car is paid off is a big incentive.

WHAT??? An automatic robs atleast 10% more HP than a manual. You take two equal cars with the same mods, one with an auto, and one with a stick and a driver who knows how to drive, and the stick wins. The only time an auto is good is on psychotically fast drag cars where 4 manual shifts just aren't reasonable.

I would go for the Mach, but for 17k it would be hard to find one at least where im at. I wanted to find a Mach for 17-18k but everyone had them for 20-23k plus premium gas, which if its going to be daily driven will be more money in gas and less to spend on mods. I ended up just getting a GT, cheaper gas, cheaper insurance, and slower. Oh well, you just need to figure out your money situation, for me the GT was the right call. A mach is BA, but remember to figure in monthly payments, gas, and ins. If you can afford it get a Mach, but dont have any regrets no matter what you do.
