In the process of replacing my heater core and just took the old one out. Yeah its true it takes forever and just sucks. But going to get it done today. whats the best heater core to get? i hear autozone and hear that kragen sucks. what you guys know?

I think what he means (obviously) is the cheapest most reliable place to buy it And we all know that isn't the dealership

I don`t know if any parts stores carry the Ford motorcraft heater cores,usually it`s just the aftermarket heater cores they sell.

i would go with a ford oem one aswell. think of it your car is a 91 probably first heater core to go thats 14 years worth of quality. true oem from ford may not be the most inexpensive but it will last for a long time probably longer then you are going to own your car.

Right, but their are Ford part sellers that sell them cheaper than what a dealership would for the same product

Example: www.buyfordracing.com sells nice products for cheaper than the average...

Really?! you sure? you mean the ford dealership stocks a ford part? :ZipIt: I meant can you buy one from an autoparts store. i bought ford parts from auto part stores like napa before and was wondering if they stocked them. Cone on im not FoxFan

If you've got a buddy that works at a parts store, ask him where they get THEIR parts from. There's usually a parts distributor in a given region that supplies all the different parts stores (including dealerships). Give them a call and see if they stock Motorcraft parts.

I've replaced three heater cores in my 85 and two in my 90. The generic auto parts store heater cores suck! The factory heater core water outlets are soldered together where the elbows touch. The generic ones are not soldered there. Everytime one of my generic heater cores leaked it was from the water outlet tubes turning in the heater core itself. The solder had let go. Since then I have gone to genuine Ford replacement heater cores This has not been a problem. The replacements were also soldered at the elbows where they touch each other. When they soldered the two tubes together it kept them from turning and loosening up at the core end.

Last year I tried to get one from Downs Ford when I used to work there and he said they discontinued them. A advance auto one has been holding good for a year so far, knock on wood lol
