I tried the method described above with the ball bat, and the bat just pressed into the tire and didn't do squat to the inner lip... lip stayed put, bat squished into the rear tire.,.
I took a die grinder and a porting bit and carefully just cut away what I wanted. I still need to do some more cause it was hitting my rear tires BADLY on a recent trip a few weeks back, to Bolingbrook Illinois. The roads in Detroit right after the bridge that take you to I 94 or which ever interstate you want are horrendous.
