Im wondering why my 1/8th mile trap speed is so slow and why 1/4 trap speed is pretty decent for what i have done?

My buddy has a 90 LX with exhaust and AOD and 2.73 gears and he traps 75.06 in the 1/8th but runs 15.1s. I trap 76 mph in the 1/8th but i run 13.7s/ Now his trap in the 1/4 is only 93 something and my best trap speed to date is 103.01, now to me thats a huge freakin difference. Im thinking its because I shift into 4th like 20 yards before the 8th mile marker and i think thats really killing the 8th mile trap speed cause i cross the finish like at like 5800 rpm.

I raced an SRT4 at the track the other day with a stage 2 upgrade and he ran a 13.4 at 104 something to my 13.70 at 102 and i had him till about the 1000' foot when he passed me. His 1/8th mile trap was 85 to my 76.08mph So is there anything i should worry about or do i say screw it and worry only about the 1/4 mile stuff

haha, damn i was just about to check out my 1/8th mile trap speed on a time slip i had in my wallet, an it says I ran a 8.8 @ 524.88 miles an hour!!! wow. Well, the other guy ran a 13.5 with a 80 mph 1/8th trap. Your trap speed seems to be pretty correct for your 1/4 mile time. I would just stick to the 1/4 stuff, less confusing that way lol

to late 90mustangGT we've already begun the T5 swap on his car no converter neccessary. Oh well just thought it seemed a little low in the 1/8th guess theres nothin to worry about

Well, throw a good torque converter in the trunk for safe measure. :D

The t5 swap will make his car a ton more fun to drive, and faster too.

Try having my issue. my car traps mid 85 mph in the 1/8 and my dads was right there mid 85 mph. In the 1/4 mine trapped 106 and his was trapping 110. I was only gaining 20-21 mph whereas he was gaining about 25 mph. There are tons of factors that control this...

I will say when I was going 103 mph in the 1/4 I was trapping 80-82 in the 1/8th, your 76 seems low! My guess is it has to be that shift taking place right there thats doing it!
