Im getting about 150-175 miles a tank and a friend of mine has a built 306 with 4:10 gears in his fox body '88 and gets better milage than I do, is there something wrong with my car ? I dont rag on it much and I usualy cruise at about 2-2 1/2 grand around town but on the highway I get about 300 a tank.

check and make sure no leaks in the fuel system then I would check your timing, check plugs, cap rotors when was the last time you had a tune up, fuel filter? etc. My timing was off on my car and my miles was about where yours are.

Would you use more gas with advanced timing or retarded timing?

I did a full tune up, dude's at Ford checked my car top to bottom and nothin was wrong except the MAF sensor wich was cleaned. My fuel pump is brand new of last week and I still get 180 miles per tank! It's starting to cost me a chitload and the damn motor is stock

Mine was retarded I usually run about 32 degrees advance without a spout. When I checked it it was about 20 degrees. Lost alot of power and lucky I did not blow the engine apart. It happened during Fun Ford Weekend.

I havnt checked for any gas leaks but I just did a tune up and oil change a month or two ago along with new fuel pump filters etc. and my timing was set right after I got the car cause it was pinging.

Old O2 sensors is my guess if everything else is in order. They are the primary control of a/f ratio in closed loop.
