what is your take on them?? are they worth buying? I see in people sigs that the HP is alot lower as to compared to a vortech or so ..... What are your thoughts and if I was to purchase one would i kick myslef in the arse that i didnt go with a vortech or so?

The Saleen kits are really nice. Unfortunately the lower intake manifold is a limiting factor if your looking for big RWHP numbers.

I actually like the Saleen kit better than the KB (except of course for that manifold!!!). I don't care for the KB heat exchanger, coolant reservoir, coolant pump setup or the 90° angle on the cold air intake upgrade.

If only Saleen would wake the F up and redesign the manifold :bang:

ok

Dont listen to these guys that say the saleen is weak they dont know what they are talking about.. I have the same setup, as the saleen.. it is true I only make 318 hp but I make a lot more power then a 400 hp vortech car under the curve.. it is a great blower with good everyday driving power.. it gives alot of torqe and it is a lot of fun.. these guys that make 400 hp with the vortechs are getting peak power only.. the KB blower is really cool it has both lowend and highend.. also my blower puts out full boost 9PSI at almost idle.. its a great blower and it sound better too..

yea but with the gradual increase the centrifugal blowers have , you dont beat your car up as much because its not all at once , and it helps with traction . which is an issue with any blower

The roots type "saleen" or "kb" will make more tq and not alot more of hp, the centri supercharger "vortech" will make more hp and not alot more of tq. Roots type is instant but the curve wont climb as high as a centri...so once you get to like 5K a centri car will blow right by a roots because its still climbing in boost and hp. ANd about the comment on the noisiness of the vortech just get the SQ version its much quieter than ANY roots blower out there.

That is not true.

I agree with Hoppy. Saleen has a much better design with the heat exchanger - waterpump - and reservoir.

The Kennebell has a better intake.

A whipple 1.6l vs. the KB 1.7l is not significant a difference.

Here are a couple of other considerations.

A couple of things come to mind when thinking about a PDB vs Centri.

1) A simple belt change is just that. Simple on a PDB. Centri's are much more of a PITA.

2) Impeller speed - On a centri they are turning at a very high RPM which can lead to bearing failure or in my case with the Procharger, seal leakage. A PDB's rotors do not turn at the same RPM's as a centri so bearing life is greater. They do flex but that is designed into the blower. Pulley swaps are easier on the PDB, you don't have to remove the head unit.

3) Oil change - for a PDB very easy - Vortech (very easy) - Procharger (not that easy).

4) Power Centri's offer amazing power especially when you want to step it up, TS's though are catching them very quickly.

5) Packaging - PDB's look factory IMHO and normally will come with a new aluminum intake. I personally don't like the way a centri hangs off the front of the motor.

I've been around several SC'd Saleens and Saleen blown stangs. They're blowers are no where near as quiet as my SQ. I get a slight whistle when I WANT to hear it. There are plenty of motors making over 400 RWHP that are doing just fine. Torque will kill a motor before HP, so I'd be more worried about that. And Prochargers are centrifugal and tend to make more torque than HP too. The Saleen blower isnt bad, it just isnt as good as most of the other options on the market. Even Saleen is using a better blower now with thier Series IV.

yeah

I was in my friends car and was asking him about his car.. he told me it had a vortech and this and that.. then I told him damn it is loud why didnt you get the queit one.. and he told me thats the one he has.. haha.. then he got into my car and he though it was bad ass that you cant hear it.. hehe..

so if the vortech and the saleen blowers were in a race to the end of the quarter would the votech catch him by the end?.. I know its a pathetic explanation but i just want to see how long a saleen blower will keep goign before it dies..lol
