So, my 93 LX's wheels are getting pretty dirty, and I've been wrestling with the idea of getting them powder coated, but I'm wondering if it wouldn't be easier just to buy a new set.

What do you guys think?

Powder coating would be cheaper, but not by a whole lot, and I'd have to put the car on jacks, take the wheels off, take them to get the tires taken off at one place, powder coated at the other place, and then the reverse. That's a lot of running around vs having a set shipped right to me, and just having them mounted/balanced.

What have you guys done, and/or what's your opinion?

Do you like the 16" or do you want to put 17" on ? If you want a 17" go with the pony r's I called them directly and they were about 5-600 for a set of the wheels.

Just another option.

A set of repo '93 Cobra wheels/tires would look killer! But I know, more money than needs to be spent.

I like the 16's, I'm pretty much keeping it stock, so, the only question is:

coat/paint what I have and deal with unmounting/mounting, or buy new set and just mount them with the existing tires?

ill advised

There are several guys around here that have painted their Ponies and it turned out very nice. I can't recall any of their names but you can run a search. When the time came for me I went ahead and upgraded to Pony R's on my '92. My original Ponies were in pretty rough shape but in reality it just gave me a good excuse to go for the R's. lol

I've painted many wheels in my day. Its not hard and you dont even have to dismount the tire as long as you mask it off well. I painted the wheels on the wifes eclipse about 6 years ago and besides them being a little dirty, they arent chipping or anything.

Hmm, a few different opinions. I also don't have a lot of time or space to paint them myself, but I think a friend of mine did actually paint his.
