Wheel sizing help

Hey guys, I want to buy some american racing VN500 (magnum 500's) for my 2001 GT. I want the 17x9.5's up front and 17x11's out back. Question is will the 9.5's up front cause any rubbing issues? They don't make them in a 9" width and as well with the back only come in 11's not the normal 10.5". Plus for these two sizes I stated, what offset and b.s. would I need for them to fit properly. Doing some comparative studies, the closest ones I found on am's website would be 27 offset and 7" b.s. for the 17x11's and 28 offset with 6 3/8" b.s. for the 9.5's. These may be way off, just curious as whether or not I am on the right track or what? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Dan

If they didn't stick out, then I'd think you may have some rubbing issues when turning. My 18x9's rub on my drivers side brake lines, so I have to hold it back using zip ties.

CobraRed crashed his car when his brakes went spongy... ended up being a brake line that had failed and it looked like the failure may have been caused by the wheel rubbing the teflon coating off... f'n chitty

Good to know...I can get a 17x8 for the front, just wanted something a little wider cause wanted to run 275/40's up front? I will give that link a try...I have been emailing back and forth with a supplier and he tells me that I must provide all the fitment info cause they are custom made...isn't it their resonsibility to supply me a wheel to fit my vehicle? How am I supposed to know what offset and backspace will work with their wheel....cause every wheel is made differently and the front portion may stick out farther than another wheel with same backspacing?

that was a sad day for sure...what ever happned to him anyway? wonder if he still lurks here

isnt 275/40 the choice size to go with 9"?

007, I've heard the same about the 275's on 9s rubbing. I have them on my 17x9's, but haven't had any issues. I think a lot of it depends on how much the car has been lowered.
I have the C-springs and have no issues, if I had more of a drop it probably would be an issue. It is really close, but clears everything in the wheel well by at least 1/2" at full wheel lock on both sides (first pic is at full wheel lock, don't have any pics of the inside of the tire but nothing touches)

Yeah I know that 9's are ideal, but like i said before for some reason both wheel vintiques and american racing don't make these wheels in a 9" width for the front...only 8's or 9.5's. So you are sayin that I should go with the 8's up front with a stock sized tire then? I am about to give up on these wheels cause distributors of them don't seem to have a freakin clue as to what I need. These wheels are custom made, but aren't very custom because I have to pick one of their stock sizes and offsets and backspace configurations....how custom is that?? Pretty dumb if you ask me....I just really wanted these wheels on my yellow mustang cause of the black inserts...and I don't like all the other black wheels out there. I might just go with some chrome bullitts or chrome fr500's instead? Thanks guys...

Looks like that company doesn't make any 9" wide wheels. Here are some that are similar if you like that style:

I'm sure your right. My car was absolutely SLAMMED for a while to the point where it was impractical. Its still low with my new front springs.

BTW 265s or 275s fit the 9" rim beautifully.:nice: I've done both, but I recommend the 265s.

Yeah dark04gt I was going to buy those in the 18's but that company no longer makes them and they are discontinued....have been on permanent backorder for quite a while now. Unless some one knows where I can buy a set of them from...cause the websites show them, but if you call them, they say otherwise including american muscle and crusin concepts among others. I like the price of those a lot more than the american racing/wheel vintique ones that's for sure!
