wheel spacers, looks, durability, pictures

I want to get wheel spacers for my rear 18X9 wheels. I was wondering how strong are they? I'm afraid of them breaking off on me. Does anyone have any pictures of like 3/4in spacers for rear 18X9 wheels or anything similar? I was wondering whether 3/4in is enough for me, or whether I should go a whole inch or even just half an inch.

I was thinking about getting 18X10's as well on the rear and using wheel spacers as well.

My front wheels stick out more than my rear wheels, pictures below:

well for my 18x9's i went with 1in. spacers and i love them. you just gotta make sure you get some that are hubcentric. personally i would recommend getting 1in. feels just like stock but looks 10x's better.

I would not run them with saleen wheels. it will be very obvious they are on there.

the only downside to a nice wheel spacer is having to remove the wheel to retorque them if you are anal the first time you install them and if you have a very open rim you can just see them between the wheel and the rotor.

I think I'm going to go with an 18X10 with wheel spacer because I found some cheap white Saleen wheels for $150 each at MRT Direct

I never thought about that. Thanks for letting me know, I think I'll be getting an 18X10 wheel with maybe 3/4" spacer and see the results

go with the 9" wheels and 1" spacers OR 10" with NO spacers or they will stick out too far and look strange

Saleen Reps are like that. True Saleens don't need spacers but they are also 3x the price of the reps.

i have the 10 in wide deep dish black bullitts on my car. trust me you will NOT need a wheel spacer with the 10s out back. wheel spacers are only a good idea if your wheels are hitting something or rubbing in your wheel well inner.
someone said their deep dishes hit their quad shocks~ not a problem for me at all.

and girl~ my wife also thinks youre hot! (cant post word for word what she said though)

Here are some before and after pics of my 18x9" Mach 1 repilca rims. I installed a 1" spacer on the rear from 50resto.com.

You can see how the back wheel now sits flush with the edge of the fender, before it tucked in and appeared as though the front wheels stuck out farther than the rears.

I tend to agree that the 10" wheel in the rear should suffice for appearances.
As for spacers looking 'obvious' ... perhaps to the trained eye scanning the lip depth or looking beyond the rim to the rotor .... otherwise, like the Mach example, you'll be glad they are there.

Also, hubcentric should be the only option.

I don't think they are at all apparent to the un-trained eye. When you are rolling all you can see is the bright red calipers behind... that is if yours are some bright color.

I've had 1" spacer on the rear of my car for about a year now, no problems at all.

I have no choice in the matter because my cars rear end is odd. The passenger side wheel sticks out 1 inch farther than a typical mustang, and the driver side wheel is right where it should be. So from the rear of the car it looks really weird with the left wheel sitting farther in than the right. So I have one 1" spacer on the left side to even them out.

But yeah, make sure they are hub centric ones.

If you get spacers, i would also upgrade to hardened lugs.

I know hubcentric spacers are strong, but i have still seem posts on here about guys losing wheels with spacers.

Wheel studs, wheel lugs, upgraded lugs, called a few different things.

Unsure what size and pitch and lenght the stock studs are, so i can't post a link to a set in Summit.

It's a spacer that relies on the hub portion to carry the brunt of the force. Most cheapo parts stores spacers are not tolerances as close so the lugs end up supporting the force...and they will snap.

Hubcentrics are pretty strong, but i would upgrade the lugs as a precaution as well. For $20 it's cheap enough
