Wheel spacers?

Besides having an F-150 ride-height, I get the impression from certain angles that the wheels on my 02 GT (with Bullitts) could stand, appearance-wise, to be spaced another inch or so outwards. I think the crazy ride-height is exaggerated by having the wheels (esp. the rears) so deep in the wheelwells.

Maximum Motorsports' spacers (http://www.maximummotorsports.com/spacers.asp) seem to be what I'm looking for.

Anyone got any experience they'd like to share? How drastically do the 1" spacers affect steering and handling? Is there a detrimental effect on the suspension (e.g. bearings) by changing the effective offset like this? Can both front and rear tolerate a 1" spacing?

Exact idea. I like the before & after pic of the V6 Mustang on Eibach's site...it illustrates the "problem" perfectly.

I got the Pacifica Performance wheel and hub centric 1" spacers (some of the cheap spacers aren't wheel and hub centric) and they fill out the rear wheel well exactly where I wanted it with my 17x9 rims and Nitto 255/45/17 tires . . . I have the same tires on the front, and they fit nice, and I can't imagine anyone would want to move them out. I installed X2 balljoints and bump steer kit at the same time as the spacers, so don't really know what the spacers themselves have done or not done for steering and road performance, but they sure make the car look cool . . .

Okay, so you installed the spacer on the rear only? I can see that...on mine, the rears definitely look "tucked under" more than the fronts do. An inch at the back and 0.5" on the front (stock Bullitt rims and P245s) would probably be ideal for me. Anyone make a 1/2" spacer?

I know the problem you are talking about so well. I actually got a set of wheels that have different offsets front and back to fix this problem. The push right out to the sides fo the car, and it looks 100x better.

Not the best pic, but it gives you the idea.

You can get 7/16" spacers from summit racing. A lot of guys run them when the have skinnies up front. From what I know you should not have any problems with them, and they are really cheap unlik the larger ones are hubcentric and have the studs built in.

heres my side view between the rim offset and the MM .25 inch spacers, this is my stance. Almost flush. I like the look.

That looks good! For the .25" spacers do you keep the stock bolts? How many turns of thread do you get once the spacer is in place?

00281....yeah the spacer uses my stock bolts...thats why some people mix up spacers and wheel adapters. I forget how many revelotion..seems like 12 is what they recommend and I got that many..very safe.


spacer= big washer...keep stock bolts(what I have)
wheel adapter=...bolts to hub, and give new studs, sometimes stock studs have to be ground down.
